Hey guys.. Last year I was on a real high, I was pushing hard, and learning new things. I had just learned a whirly, and was super pumped.. A week later I was riding in our first INT tourny, and was having a great run.. Second to last trick, I trashed my knee on a sw tanny.. Super down, and discouraged, I had the surgery in July, and have just been doing the PT to get ready to try to ride again.. Of course all I could think about was my primes over.. I am scaring the crap out of 30, and Ive got a bum knee now.. Figured Id never be back to 100%.. We went 2 weeks ago for the first ride of the year.. All felt ok, it was definitely weird, but I rode ok considering it had been 10 months since I had been on the water.. I even got up some confidence and landed a few different inverts.. We went back this past weekend, and I told myself that I wasnt going to be scared, and I was going to try the Whirly that I had only landed about 4 times the previous week before I blew my knee up.. Long story short, first try, nailed it!! It was an ugly landing, but gave me all kinds of stoke for the year! Just thought Id share for anyone else out there going through that down time.. Stick it out, and get out there!!

Good to hear you got back out there and stuck that whirly. I know the feeling. I've torn my MCL riding and it ended my season short, and I've also dislocated my shoulder riding as well. You just have to put the fear out of your mind and just ride like you know you can.

Nice! Great to hear recovery stories. I'm convinced that it's only a matter of time before my knee goes out and it's good to hear that you can come back strong!

Congrats on your recovery.

Check back with me when you're on the downhill side to 50. Laughing

Hey man great to hear it. I love comeback stories. Glad you're out and riding again. I've always told myself theres nothing that could keep me off a board. If I lost my legs I'd build something to make it work..

Glad you guys are all out rocking it, gives me inspiration for the future. I plan to ride well into my 50's 60's and hopefully 70's if something doesn't get me first.

Edit: Dude i just watched the vid, if that landing is sketchy I don't know what to say about some of mine, just a little butt touch and off you went. You could totally tell you wanted it too, you didnt even wait for the boat to take the slack out the line, you just kept cutting and wailed on it.

Yea I remember getting close to 30 but not real well since that was about 13 years ago.

I will say that I just started wake boarding last year and this is a violent sport. I have been on a slalom since I was 10 but other then a few cracked ribs about 10 years ago I have never felt pain like I have since perfecting the face plant wake boarding, damn near bit my tongue off last fall

great to hear man, i've got some seriously f'd stuff going on with my knee right now. This offseason I screwed it up twice now, playing ball and going out to a club one night so I'm afraid I'll tweak it again this year and if that happens I'll be getting an MRI. So depressed thinking I could miss another season (hardly rode in 09)

But great to know that no matter what I can still fight through it regardless of whatever it is that may be wrong with me. keep goin my friend Cool

Have to give you props man! I tore an ACL a few years back just walking down the damn beach, stepped into a small ditch I didn't see and pop. I can still feel the effects to this day. Make sure you still take it easy an gradually get back into things. Once stuff like that happens, it happens much easier the next time (fingers crossed there won't be a next time!)

Keep at it!
