Me and a buddy are looking to buy a 93 Ski Nautique because we loved one we rode in back in the day when it was only a couple years old. When we had skurfers and frickin loved it.
But by todays standards are the old Nautiques as good as the new if you have a tower. I really like the size of the old small and low. So.
93 a good year for these? Engine and hull wise.
Mods for a nice larger wake?
We are not looking for the best of the best. Just to have a boat to put out some nice kickers and be as reliable as possible.
We really like the simple boats and not overly complicated so if anybody has a better boat. Please point us in the direction of it.
Thanks! |

Older Nautiques are great wakeboard boats. Unfortunately, not the model years you're talking about. There's a couple sweet spots in Nautiques. The 1980s Ski Nautique "2001"s from 81-89 throw a great wake and you can get them for a good price. The 1990 on "Ski Nautique"s do not throw a good wake for boarding - good for skiing though. The Sport Nautique takes over in '89 and takes you through the 90s as a great wakeboat - the first Super Air was based on it.
These boats aren't really any more expensive than what you're looking for and will throw a wake significantly better. The Sport Nautique is an open bow which gives you more space for people/ballast. I would probably recommend a 93 or newer, who's stringers are fiberglass instead of wood, to avoid eventual rot. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Really the question ought to be, how much money do you want to spend? Because you can find other boats in that area that are good as well. The Nautique "Excel" is an early 90s V-drive. The Super Sport started in '95 I believe. V-drives are better for space, weighting, and wakeboarding in general.
Then there's the Mastercraft ProStar 205 which competes with the Sport Nautique in that area. Not the 190, the 205. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Or if you refuse to search, take this advice - skim them. 90s era Ski Nautiques were great SKI AND BAREFOOT BOATS but terrible WAKEBOARD BOATS. Wake was too small.
SEARCH!!!!!!!!! |
