judging his budget wasn't what he was asking for.
I believe GoPro has a set price for all dealers. You'd have to find one used. |

I'm on the fence whether or not to buy the LCD BacPac, at first I really wanted it but then I realized that without it, we just ride and shoot all day, if I got the LCD we would spend a bunch of time reviewing that last trick _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆

Gopro makes all dealers sell at a MAP price. Just like everything else in our industry. You are going to find it around the $295 price range everywhere you go. We have one of the helmet cams left at boardstop from our first order. If you want it cheaper you will have to do like others said and find on used. All the riders that I know that have bought them love them so I do not know what the used market is like. _________________ Wakeskating

Yeah, i don't think that's the 1080 but still a good starter, at least to see of you like it or if you want to get the better one. Could prolly use it and then sell it for just a little less than you bought it for. _________________ How much work would a network work if a network could network? |

It floats! Heck yeah... that's the only reason I haven't bought another one. It's quite depressing when you watch it sink to the bottom. |

isuckatwakin, I don't have all of the pricing right just yet. I'm sure some quick GOOGLE-ing would give you a general idea. The HD model is comparable to the GOPRO HD. The GPS model is (understandably) a bit more expensive. Contour has their products set up in an "a la carte" system. Basically, you buy the camera and then buy whichever individual mounts and accessories you want.
EDIT: Here's a list of retailers near Pompano Beach. You could go and check them out in person.
http://contour.com/retailers?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=Pompano+Beach%2C+FL
One caveat - it does float, but only when its in the waterproof housing. In otherwords, the bare camera will not float (nor would it be water proof) _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Like HHI Dave mentioned, take a look at the Countour. I have used both the GoPro 720p and the Contour 720p and IMO, the Contour records much clearer, less wavy footage. I'll have to dig up some old footage from my old 720p GoPro, but here is a video my buddy shot on his shifter kart with just the 720p Contour. I have seen the 1080p footage and it's incredible, even full screen on a 24" monitor.
Be sure to watch in 720p...

I've also used both the GoPro and Contour for snowboarding. Had the Contour first but ended up trading it in for a GoPro. Video quality was pretty comparable on both but there are differences in the usability. Here's what I liked and disliked about each:
Contour
+ Really easy to use, slide forward to record, back to stop, hard to get it wrong
+ Looks good mounted to the side of your helmet (without the waterproof case)
+ 1080p version is cheaper than GoPro
- Waterproof case more than doubles the size of it and makes it ugly when mounted on your helmet
- Iffy helmet mount. Attachment is velcro-like and when I tossed my helmet in my gear bag the camera just popped off. Was afraid this would happen on the hill.
- Some settings can only be changed when it is connected to a computer
GoPro
+ Really solid mount, the camera isn't going anywhere, and more mounting options
+ All settings can be changed without plugging into a computer
+ Smaller than the Contour when the waterproof case is on
- More obtrusive when mounted on a helmet
- Sometimes hard to hear the beeps that indicate when it is on/off, hard to tell when it is recording without looking at it
I recommend going through REI to buy it because they have a kickass return policy. Full refund any time for any reason. If you decide you don't like it you can return it or exchange it for something else no questions asked. If you break it you can return it, just don't lose it. |

Hey guys, just noticed that REI has a coupon for 20% off any single item through 4/10/2011. This means you can get the GoPro HD for $239.89 instead of $299.95.
Link: http://www.rei.com/product/794062
Coupon Code: MEM2011
Coupon Details: http://www.rei.com/promotions/member-rewards-coupon.html
You can use the coupon online or print it and use it in the store. It does require an REI membership (used to be free but now they charge $20). If you are already a member you're good to go, otherwise your total will be $259.89. Hope somebody finds this useful. |

I actually sell a lot of GoPro's through my motorsports companies. We charge $250 for them. But I'm not looking to take any business away from Boardstop. I think you guys should call Boardstop and try to do all your business with them. Their money keeps this forum open and kicking...so what if you contribute a few dollars a year to your hobby by buying from them?
Support this forum and your beloved hobby and buy from Boardstop.
Regards,
