|
|
I'm beginning Wakeboarding using my Waverunner, but I'm worried that I may not be able to get a good pop off the wake because the rope is connected so low to the Waverunner. Also will the wakes be big enough for tricks? Any info will be greatly aprreaciated............. |

| No! The only thing you can do behind a waverunner or seadoo is hit rails or kickers and nothing else. You can wakeskate behind a seadoo thats okay but not wakeboard. |

You can do surface tricks, hit sliders, and just ride around behind it, but you'll never be able to do any big tricks.

You don't want a ski boat... you want a wakeboard boat!!! _________________ If my above post offends you in any way, simply ignore it. If you do not know how to ignore it, complain to me in a PM and I will show you how. |

| Where in TX are you? Because there are plenty of people who ride in TX who would be willing to give you a pull behind a wakeboard boat. I can try and hook you up depending on your location... |

When I was at the boat show in January I was walking by one of the PWC dealers booths when a couple of kids asked one of the salesmen, "Can you really do that behind a JetSki?" pointing to a mannequin hanging from the ceilling (inverted) on a wakeboard with a rope down to one of their display skiis.
The sales guy said, "This is the same Ski they use for the Gravity Games."
The kids said, "Wow, that is awesome!"
What he failed to tell them obviously is that it is the same ski they use at the Gravity Games to pick up the fallen boarders! |

| Oooh, you are way far. I know of hookups in the Austin, Houston, Dallas, Beaumont, east TX areas but not anywhere near you, sorry! But I do know of people who learned to board and learned the basics behind a jetski, so there is hope! |

While not a very great pull, you can ride behind them. You can actually learn very good edging, loading line, etc from riding behind a small wake. Back when twin tip boards first came out, that is all I had. I learned great fundamentals, board control, etc... and was even able to land a tantrum. Once I got that consistent, I bought a boat. They are also great for wakeskating, sliders, etc...
Alot of people (read:not all) who start behind a boat learn bad techniques because the wake will pop you more, you can still catch air even when flattening out, the wake can be intimidating, etc... I think a PWC can be a great learning tool.
To qualify this, I hate PWC's; other than them pulling a rider, or in the ocean jumping the surf !!! _________________ Sattelyte Wakeskates

Being pulled by anything that can pull you at 20mph is better than watching from shore or a great day at work.
Learn what you can with surface tricks and edge control and go the the "be a third, find a third" board and find some people to ride with. Learn how to be a good 3rd and you'll be invited more than you have a chance to go.
Just ride now and worry about the details later. I learned to ski and kneeboard behind a 12 foot john boat with a tiller steer 20hp merc becuase it was all I had access to.
