Well you have to use your hands to pull the handle back in and use your stomach muscles to pull the board back under you. _________________ www.krookedminds.com

i had this same problem when learning raleys. This is easily fixable. Cut as far outside the wake as possible, and then charge the wake as hard as you can. I was trying them just by cutting a little harder. Themn someone laughed at me and told me i had to cut it way harder, and it worked. Watch a raley on video. You'll notice how much harder they cut. If you do the raley correctly and wait till you relaese from the wake, it will get pulled down for you. But as long as you charge it, you will have enough time to pull it down even if you throw it a little early. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

| That sounds like good advise Raider. I haven't tried a raley in about a year because I landed on my stomach and my legs folded over my back. I thought that I had broke my back. Is there any way to practice this at a slower boat speed? I have thought about trying it but just can't seem to get up the nerve. |

supra-
I first learned a raley on a wakeskate. I just cut real hard and extended, then dove in the water. The skate just landed behind me. It was very helpful, especially because it lets you take away some of the nerves of the trick. Also you can try to pull your feet back under you.
Once you try them on a board i would not suggest trying them a slow speed or in any half ass way. You know how people say the worst falls are when tyou throw tricks indecively or only half way...well it's reallt true for a raley. Once you get up the nerve, just go for it and throw with some confidence. I promise if you think you can land it going in, you won't have really bad falls.
I hopw this helps, and feel free to pm me if you have any questions. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

Raider is absolutely right.. Positive thinking will get you postive results
The main thing about Raleys is the commitment. You have to give it 100% once you commit to the trick. Half effort will get you hurt.
Raleys are really not that hard, but they do work your abs something fierce. Ladies dig raleys and they dig six pack stomachs!!

and be ready for one sore back when you first learn these. I'm 17 so it's not an age thing, but raleys do a number on the lower back... _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

| What about working up to a raley? Learning to let your hips out and then pull them back? |
