I have purchased both and let me put my 2 cents in.
Higher Education was awesome. They explained everything very well, went over common mistakes and how to correct them and I learned an enourmous amount from the videos.
Detention was AWEFUL. It looked like a 7th grade school project. The "teachers" were just idiot punks. They were totally unprofessional and really didnt help at all. For serveral tricks they called (on a telephone) parks bonifay to explain the trick. It was so poorly done I am trying to find a way to contact the maker and get my money back, just for principal. I mean it SUCKS.
Buy Higher Education 1&2, they explain everything very well and you will learn a lot from it. It is also produced very well--looks clean and sounds good. _________________ The biggest wakeboarder on the lake: 6'7'' 240lb |

| I mean come on, you've gotta give detention some credit. It was one of the funniest video's I've ever seen. Murray is straight classic. |

I just got detention last night... and it's not too bad. I don't think it's good, but it's not the worst I've seen. I've been having some trouble off the wake lately and thought this would help. Murray was amazing in the Faction, so I thought this would be a good way to progress. I dropped $65 last night on this and would like to see "higher" to see the comparison. In detention for instance it says to start jumping one wake, and then go to two. Sounds easy, but what if it's hard to make it over the second, what should the viewer do differently. That's the stuff I feel should be included.

I think murray is overrated anyway. Everyone thinks he has the best style and thats all hes about and stuff. What about Keith Lyman? He has awsome style and does different grabs and tricks then most riders do. _________________ Yabba Dabba Dizzle |

Cap'nPimp, there are lots of riders out there that have heaps of style, i guess murray has been there so long he has lots of respect. _________________

$65 bones Canadian my man... Actually no, that's not ture. He gave it to me for $48 cause he thought it was ridiculus. It's volume 1 and 2 on DVD. So $48 Canadian is... like $30 US I guess. It has actually helped a bit. I have an old Tige and it's a wide boat, so the wake is pretty far apart. Wake to wake is a little tough. _________________ 500 up |

Hey, just wanted to tank you, Jeff!
I got my dvd very fast (and that's not normal because I'm living in Switzerland). It took only 5 days to send me the film (and two of that days where Sat. and Sunday!) and I paid a very low price (even lower than purchasing it here in Switzerland).
thx again for your great help and good luck with your new business!

Not to bash Keith, he rips and puts these older guys to shame (representing us upper east cost riders, yo) but he has never made an instructional video.
But keep this in mind Keith wasn't even ridding in comps when Murray made Detention. In it's day Detention was the best of what was available, it is very out dated to say the least but still covers all the tricks. Ask three guys to explain a trick and I'm sure you will get three different explanations/variations.
I have both and still watch both depending on the room I'm, one is DVD the other VHS. _________________ PEACE

With me it's now the same. HigherEducation is on dvd and detention, well, that's the video I learned from the beginning. I really like it too!
I also think that they are two different things...but every one is good on it's way.
HigherEducation is probably more serious, but still I've to say that I like the detention (not the jokes and classroom szenes, but the way how the tricks are explained) and at least, you've a foreward-button and you havn't to view that szenes

Yeah detention is messed up a bit but volume two is good....they don't have the classroom crap and everthing so it's better plus they put a little more detail into the 2nd volume....so it's much better! _________________ Why Walk When You Can Wake? |
