| I'm planning on putting a sub in my Air Naut. & would like to hear what other people have done with their boats. What kind , size and where do most people mount their subs in Sport/Air Nauts. Also, what size amp worked for you & where did you mount it? Thanks, Boomer

Well, I just used a bunch of old car equipment for a "rigged" system - did get a new driver though. I don't remember anything about my old amps right now. I'm running a 12" in a sealed enclosure (they can be smaller than ported) under the observer's seat and still have storage around it. I sounds good, although I'd maybe consider venting around the base of the clamshell seat to allow more mid bass frequencies out. Now that I know it sounds good I'll probably upgrade my amps and other speakers in the boat. I'll see if I can get external dimensions this weekend (boat's at lakehouse).
There are several others on here that have much more involved systems and they look great! Here's one -

He's done some really neat things - read how he's got the batterys set up for stereo/accessorie battery isolation while not running. I've incorporated several of his methods in my boat. Good luck and enjoy the install!

| Ive heard of alot of systems that claimed to be "the loudest boat people have heard" but listen to this, our shop boat-95 sport- just got 1 JL audio W7 and that sub hit 139DB's on the meter at the stereo shop it was installed at. I couldnt believe how loud that 1 sub was.

| The Sub was a JL 12W7 and the amp was a Phoenix Gold Ti1200.1. It was simply the loudest single sub I have ever heard

Skinautique Good thing you told us your shop boat hit 135DB's Im sure that really helps this guy!
As far as putting Woofer;s in your Air there is Only a few places That you can install them with out turning your boat into a floating boom box. (The trunk is what Im talking about) don't put any stereo equipment there! Bad Idea. The first is the easyest Behind the passenger Seet. I have seen 2-10's or 1-12 Both sound good, Depend's on how much money you have to spend will decide on what you get. With the woofer loading into the seat it has a good deep boom. I would like to see and or hear some one with woofer's loading into the hull of a AIR I think this would create a good deep sound. and the bass would carry forward as well as backwards.
The problem with the passenger side box is the space is very weird. Its kinda cone shaped and to make a box utlizeing all the avaible air space can be very hard. I wish I could give you a better answer. The Air is a Hard boat tomake beat because of the lack in space for a sub box.
The 2nd location is in-front of the drivers feet, This location is Good and Bad "Good" because it take's up none of your storage room. But bad because it's a labor intencieve job to relocate all the wires and The heater that takes up that aera (stock). God bless any one who has had to do this job, It sucks. It would take a "Super Installer" 3 days just to clean up this aera to install a box there Then there is the running of the heater hose's
and relocating a CD changer. Bla Bla Bla!
SO depending on Handy you are with tools and or How much money you have to play with will depend on what you come out with, The cheep way would be to buy a Pre made woofer box the kind you can mount behind the seat of a short cab pick up truck the kind thats shaped like a wedge that will fit in your Air no problem it kinda small but it sounds nice. Ill look for a photo for you. The secone way is to have some one make abox for the behind the passenger seat and the third way would be for you to do the Drivers side box.
for more Ideas on this you can see my website in my profile. Im going to be launching a website callled Boatbeats.com soon check it out

| Grant, How did your JL 12 sound when you had it at the driver's feet? Did you like the sound that it produced more there or under the passenger's side seat better? I have the same 12 being run off of a PPI 5800 and I can't decide where to install and get the best sound. Seems like the speaker wouldn't have much to bouce off at the driver's feet. Thanks for the info!!
