Fins?

how many of you guys use side fins on your board? molded dont count. or center fins.

AND do they help a lot or can u not notice it that much?

Fins give you more control on movement but they also increase your chances of catching an edge and getting a mouthfull. And if you are ever at a rail park or grinding, you want them off so they dont mess you up. I started off riding with fins when I was learning but once I started real tricks, I took them off and I probably wont go back

i took all the fins off, gives the board more of a freestyle, loose feel got to have molded fins though or the ride will be too loose!

It really depends on the board. I rode my old Hyperlite ERA board without fins.
Because of the molded in fins and other board features the board was very manueverable but still controlable. With my Ronix One, I use the 4 outer fins. I ordered .8 fins to replace the 1" fins it comes with. Without the fins the board feels too loose especially on landings. With the fins, I can stick a lot more things and the .8" fins, still allow the board to free up easily for surface tricks.

My board did not come with the slider fins. I did not get the slider version. Mine only came with the 1" fiberglass fins that have a very sharp edge that does not allow the board to release well. I was going to go with the hyperlite p .08 fins, because I love them and know that they work well, but I found a set of Ronix fins that have almost the identical build as the p fins and cost the same. I got the "Ronix Black Aluminum Wakeboard Fin 0.8 w/ Screws Set Of 2 $39.99) from Wakeside.com. They match the bottom of my board and they work well.

anybody knows if it is worth it to buy these fins instead of the slider fins I got with the board? Or what the difference will be between those 0.8 ramp fins and 0.8 slider fins in overal feel?

if your gonna ride sliders/ kickers its best to use the slider fins (ronix) there wider, a bit longer and kinda flat on the bottom not curved so there will be less cance of catching your fin on a seam in the rail (vs a narrow aluminum? ramp fin)

The slider fins drag a lot because they're so wide, but they do loosen the board up for the same reason, and also because they're .2" shorter than the ramp fin that comes on it. I ride my One with .8" hyperlite fins also. Im not a fan of the slider fin, they feel really draggy in the water, and I'd rather use no fins for rails.

hmm, i had them on my one, and noticed no additional drag, maybe thats becasue of the channeling up to the fin

Have fins on both my board the hyperlite 3DS and the Ronix One but niether of these boards have molded fins just the 4 .8 corner fins
