I've been wakeboarding for about 3 years now and haven't really gotten to get out on the water a lot until this year. I started trying inverted tricks this year. The first day I tried the tantrum I got the board all the way around and landed it on the water but I just can't pull it all together once I'm there. I've been doing this all season and I just don't know what's going on. I guess I'm just curious if there are any tricks that would help to complete this thing?

| i cant really tell much from the video, cuz it was skippin on me, but id say try rotating a little slower,by just basicaly "laying out in the air, because you kinda over rotated abit. and try doing it with two hands on the handle, that helped me when i would always get slack in th rope, then it would jerk out of my hands when i landed. |

WHAT??? hawkster, dude, i'm sorry but STOP giving advice...you aren't yet a good enough rider to be telling people what to do.
You DO NOT want to do a tantrum with both hands on the handle..period! |

| eppeokst, your spin is good...after you've come around extend your body to slow your rotation and look where you want to land...which will allow you to time it better so you can bend your knees to absorb the landing |

neverwinter, ive had one other person ony outube tell me that its bad to do a tantrum with two hands, i posted a topic on this site got five replies saying thats its fine to do it with two hands, it doesnt make that much of a difference, what makes the diferenc is how you trip and square up at the wake, which i can do fine. for a person who is learning one and not trying to do them in a competition i believe it is fine, you can say different but let him try and see what works best for him

Most people I know do tantrums with two hands. Dude, it's not about whether someone is learning or doing comps, it's about getting the technique right from the start, because when you learn bad habits, it's extremely difficult to get rid of them. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

1 hand / 2 hand war aside I had a lot of these before I landed my first. I had tons and tons of tantrums where the board was hitting the water but I never rode away from it. Then one day I stuck one and after that I just kept landing them more and more often.
In my case it was unfamiliarity with coming down on the board while rotating. Once I learned to "trust" I would land it, I started pulling away with more and more landed tantrums.
I don't have good enough technique to critique you, however I *can* land some tantrums and from my perspective your form looks really *really* clean. The only thing I can offer up is to just stick with it and don't stop trying them - go out for a night and after you're warmed up try 15 in a row.
What I found happened to me a lot too is I would get a bit of slack in the line. Holding for a bit of a tug helped me too. Even if there is a bit of slack in the line hold tight for a gentle (but definite) tug.
Everything else aside POST IT UP WHEN YOU LAND IT because if you're getting that close you're GOING to land it - and soon (if you keep trying them). _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

hawkster0001, Maybe you misunderstood or I misspoke. You asked if it WAS a tantrum and technically it is. Is that the correct way to do one? Not necessarily (and IMO, not at all). I'm actually kind of impressed you can do them with 2 hands since it makes it way more difficult to square-up to the wake.
You should really work on getting your tantrum with 1 hand before you develop the bad habit and can only do them with 2. Cheating yourself now will make more advanced tricks like grabbed tantrums WAY harder to learn since you'll basically have to re-learn a tantrum first.
eppeokst, It's hard to tell what's going wrong, you've basically got it. It looks like your legs are just turning to jell-o when you land. Stick it with confidence and you'll be fine. |

you really wanna try and kill that slack... pull the rope in toward you as your in the air, your elbow should be almost at a 90 and comming in..
when i was first trying to throw em i was landing arm fully extended and getting torn when the slack came out. (spent a good 3 weeks recovering from a partial dislocation -.-) |
