just wondering if anyone has any good solutions for mounting boards on a wall.. i'd like to have a couple racks, that match preferably and can hold anything size wise from a skateboard to a wakesurf..i don't want to keep them in my garage, so i'm looking for something that looks good on a bedroom wall (or a wall in a deep closet), doesn't stick out to far (preferably angled so that the boards don't stick out totally horizontally), and (hopefully) are fairly inexpensive. DIY options are welcomed as well...does anyone hang their boards on their wall?

I have some pretty basic ones in my garage, but I remember seeing a number of more stylish ones on this forum in the past. Do a search.

Cheap and easy.

you need 3 nails/ screw what ever and some garden hose or other kind of rubber. and a elastic band/ rope, the kind you use for fastning things to you car.

make a triangle on the wall and put the rubber/padding on the bottom two. this is too protect the board. At the end of the bottom two, you attach each end of the elastic rope.

The top you give a slight angle up.

now put the board on the bottom two at pull the rope to the top. Voila a board on the wall.

The above is the super cheap option, go to a hardware shop and you can probably get something that looks better than three nails and some garden hose.

but above concept works.

you can put the board with either the bottom or top out, or change it once in a while.

AWESOME!! that's perfect! modular, and doesn't take up wall space when I don't have boards up. cheap too--and i'm a college student, so DIY is right up my alley. thanks for the idea wakemads.. looks like i'm gonna spend a little time at the home depot across the street today Cool

It will probably take you longer to find the parts than to build it.

me and a mate made 4 of these in my garage in like 5 min. but we did not have to make it to nice, just functional. i would put some more effort into it if i put this in my room/ house.

but yes its easy and cheap.

i think it cost me a total of 7 USD.

This is a setup that one of my friends has. He ordered it online. It's called a board ladder:

This link takes you to the thread showing how I built mine. I modeled them after some ones I saw online.

I've seen a lot of different ideas. Here's a few pictures that might help...

these are all awesome ideas, you're right wakemads i'll probably try to dress it up a little simply because i'll be living with it in my bedroom. okie, my buddy built one of those in his room and that's what first made me think about options. I still might do that style but I wanted to see what other options are out there.

Thanks for all the replies and pics guys, I'll post up mine when I build it Very Happy. I definitely have some ideas now, thanks for the help!

OperationROL, forgot to ask, where did you get the arms that hold the bottom edge of the board?

I got these hangers from Menard's. Home Depot and Lowe's carry them.

Mine are like Okie Boarders and stxr racers, except they are angled up more. I put the boards in bindings down with the backs against the wall...drains better that way. Super cheap and all you need is a hand saw/skill saw, some screws, & a drill press.

Lowes has these for $8.98. It is a bike rack that holds boards nicely.

JTRebel, i saw those the other day, almost bought a couple but i don't want to have to put up the rack that they're meant to go on. i guess i could just screw it into the wall.
