Hey,
Lately i have been landing out in the flats and it feels like im hittin cement. Is it the little amount of padding in my bindings or what?
Peace,

| Could be the board or bindings. My Byerly lands way softer than an Absolute. |

| That might be partially it, but in general landing in the flats is harder on your body than landing on the transition. Try letting your line out 5-10 ft so you can still go big but land on the softer downslope of the wake. |

BIG MAC- i'm going to have to disagree with you and say the absolute lands much softer than the byerly, i have a byerly 137 and an absolute 134. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

landing in the flats is hard, especially if you go big. there is really nothing you can do to stop it. maybe you can try out a better set of bindings and maybe even a new board that lands softer, but generally when you land in the flats its gonna be a hard landing when compared to landing on the transition of the wake. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

scott a is right. I have some 2000 30-60's and some new Belmonts, and the landings are a little softer in the belmonts, but not a huge difference. You just have to keep doing it and learn to absorb the landing wth your knees. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

If you look at the shore while your landing as opposed to looking straight down at the water, it tends to be a softer landing. _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

| i think whats even worse than landing in the flats is landing right before the crest of the 2nd wake. |

I really don't think there is a secret to landing softer. My knees kill me everytime I land out in the flats. But hey, go big, or go home. _________________ "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough..." |

i disagree. i have to spot my landings to absorb it better. if i'm not lookin then i just hit the water harder. _________________ My videos- www.wakepics.com/member/GhettoLake4

I agree with sconroy, if you come up a little short and case the wake, it kills your knees _________________ ow thats gonna hurt tomorrow

I would suggest upgrading to some new binding. NICE BINDINGS to be exact. The bedding is alot thinker them most and they seem to land softer to me in the flats them my CWB's i have. _________________

eh just keep landing the flats with the bad bindings....eventually your nerves will die and you won't feel it anymore
i ride a 133 and it hits pretty hard in the flats (on those rare chances I get out on a real boat) and I am a small guy 5'9 155 so I think it might be the boards fault a little bit |

| Part of it might be how you guys are landing. I over exagerate bending my knees when I come down in the flats and it helps a ton. Just bend down so your butt almost hits the water when you come down. It might look sorta dorky but it's worth keeping your knees. |

| 3060's dont have the pro footbed, if you like the rear lace try a set of Byerlys. The footbed is about a half an inch thicker. |

I have 02 parks which feel great, but I feel the landing more in my knees and hips than in my feet.
I think the type of rocker you have also affects the landings. I have an 03 byerly 132 and the landings in the flats are tough on the body. Landing short of the transition will jack u up too, especially your rear leg. |

I totally agree with nathannewman. Different board and bindings may help some, and bending knees too. However, looking to the shore line or horizon is a must. You will be very surprised how much this helps. Especially with riding away from tricks. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

The trip is pretty bad at landing int he flats. I used to have one, and when i would make it out there, it wasn't nice at all. I have a Byerly now, and it is a little softer (not tha I makei t out there tha often)...I posted a long time ago on the old site, and just about everyone said the trip was the wrost at landing in the flizatts.

| There are two ways to land without pain in my book. Sky high (i.e. double-up style) and landing on the second wake or bringing it in smooth and far like you're landing a seaplane. There's really no way to come straight down into the flats and not land like a ton of bricks no matter what board and binding you're riding (though some setups are far better than others in that department). If you ride a longer line, you can take tricks big and still go wake-to-wake OR you can charge for a shallower landing angle into the flats. It's a win-win in my book. Save those knees cuz you may need 'em later in life... |
