Wakeboard shops in Philly?

Hey guys,

I just moved to Philly for 6 months on business, but I am about to head down to OWC in orlando Florida for a little vacation. I want to buy a new board before I head down but I cant seem to find any wakeboard shops around here.... can anyone list any nice shops in the philly area? I live in plymouth meeting which is just North of philadelphia.

rscott22, not sure if there are or not but orlando would be a perfect place to pick up a new setup, plus you wouldn't have to lug it down to florida, you could just buy it and bring it back

hmm, i googled it, but all you come up with is like dicks sporting goods, but how long until you go on vacation, because you can get a good deal on a board where at a pro shop, you should expect to be paying top dollar unles you have some connections, or maybe an end of the year sale,

call all the local boat dealers and see if they have a pro shop. Check for all the dealers that sell high end boats like Malibu, Tige, Supra etc.

I think your are out of luck. There used to be a boat dealer in Pennsauken NJ but they went out of business a while back. there is Surf and Offshore in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ (est. 1.5 hours), there is a board shop on LBI called Island surf and sail(est. 1.5 hours), and there is a mastercraft dealer in brick nj (est. 1.5 hours) but I do not know if they are a boardshop as well. I've been in SOS and they are usually stocked well. I have never been in Island surf and sail. I do not know of anything closer to Philly but I may be wrong.

rscott22, If you end up picking up a setup when you get to Orlando, don't hesitate to ask for any specials or clearance items. All of the 2011 stuff will be coming in really soon and a lot of stores will have great prices on 2009 or even maybe 2010 gear. Just ask and let them know your budget and what you're looking for in a board and they'll help you out.

I live in Plymouth Meeting and there aren't any wake board shops in the area. I ordered all of my gear off the internet. Perhaps you could find a shop in NJ or down the shore. Most boat retailers have gear, but usually it is entry level at best. One guy that I ride with bought 2 of his boards while visiting Florida. He loved being able to talk to someone in a Pro Shop about his riding level and what boards might be a good fit for him....and of course being able to demo the recommended boards. I think that is your best option, even if you end up paying a little bit more. Just my two cents!
