i was reading in one of the mags about that format board, sounded really bad ass. id like to look more into it.
love the all white graphics. not into all this 80s crap the last few years.

edit: found this online.

2011 O'Brien Format
Josh Sander’s all-new pro model features O’Brien’s newly minted Fusion Core. Using
top-to-bottom full length wood stringers, we were able to both reduce the overall volume
of the board and decrease the weight of the fiberglass laminate – creating a board that
is up to 1.5 lbs lighter than our standard core. We’ve also re-invented the progressive
rocker by lifting the centerline of the board towards the tips, resulting in more vertical
pop with no loss of speed to the wake. A subtle double concave through the clean
midsection of the board softens impact on landings. The base of the deck is finished off
with (4) 0.7 inch Spine fins, our signature Delta Base for a faster ride, and a full length
step-down rail to increase edge hold. Impact base available
SIZES : 132cm - 137cm - 142cm

FORMAT Board
Josh Sanders pro model
New mold and new shape for 2011. The new Josh Sanders pro model. Timber and foam core, narrower and longer than his previous model but sharing many of the same design characteristics.

FORMAT Boots
5-6 7-8 9-10 10-11 12-13
-Medium / Stiff Flex Pattern
-65mm upper cuff strap Velcro locking system tunable to the stiffness
you desire.
-Integrated TPU Ankle Strap superior hold, pulls your foot into the heel
pocket
-All New Lux Chassis our lightest & most rigid chassis ever, maximum
comfort, response, and no heel / toe lift.
-Ultralight Liner ultimate comfort & light weight combined
-2.5 Canted Chassis eases stress on your legs
-Power Arch supports your arch on bigger landings.
-Sizes graded to fit your foot like a shoe.
-Traditional thick laces provide the most secure fit and durability. Your
boots wont loosen up while riding.
-Off Axis mounting system helps keep the boot centered on the board
for optimal edge-to-edge response.

I actually talked to Chris that designed the boards. He started his career in the wake industry because of this very website Wakeboarder.com and the Wakelist. The Josh board looked really clean and the bindings are a huge improvement over the past 2 seasons.

12-13 is the biggest the boots go? this obviously is not the sport for those with big feet.

Lookin good! I've been waiting for O'brien to step their game back up. They have always been solid, but under-performing. I wouldn't hesitate to ride an O'brien board, or maybe even some o' dem binders

O'brien's boards have been as good as anybody's, it has just been their bindings that have been lacking lately.

That gear looks pretty sweet. I'd never really looked at the O'Brien gear much before but I may rethink that.

The wood stringer thing has been done before by hyperlite with their old DNA cores. I have a '03 Byerly DNA core that I really like. Suprised it took O'brien this long to catch up. The new gear looks great though for sure.

I really like Dallas Friday's pro model Skyla but I'm just not ready to switch from my Ronix back to Obrien. I mean I started with an Obrien Vixen and that board and bindings were not the best. The bindings broke on me.... but maybe I"ll change my mind...maybe

I talked to Sean Obrien at expo about his new board. He has something coming out for rails and wake. His board is the one that will be geared towards the flex market with more snap off the wake.

I held that Format boot at the Surf Expo, it is redicously light, and looks well made. And the Retail is Only like $299. I did not believe which Booth I was actually at. We shall see how they hold up....
