What do you feel is the best speed for wakeboarding? I usually stick between 17-19 but feel I have to keep having the driver speed up or slow down.

It entirely depends on that boat, and what you're comfortable with. As you progress you'll probably kick the speed up a bit.

I usually ride 23.6 mph @ 80' behind the VLX.

Agree with Dragon, depends on what you're doing and what you feel comfortable with.

When you learn things like switching then you'll want to run the boat a little slower, in fact trying anything for the first time I usually pull the speed back to about 18 or so, ten as I get more comfortable gradually increase the speed. For jumping I'm usually running about 25.

Also depends on your driver, we're lucky that we have an extremely intuative driver/coach who knows how everyone rides and what he needs to do to help them out either by slowing down or speeding up.

Thats the boat i'm in!! I give my driver credit for pulling me but she can't drive for a lick! We have perfect pass which is nice but any time I want to change speeds she either isn't paying attention or changes too much.

I used to ride at 21.7 but after an injury I know ride 19-20, mostly 20. It's a little less painful on crashes!

ride behind 03 Moomba LSV

Ya'll are haulin! I'm kinda a newb behind the boat (08 VRide). I go about 19.4 at um, 60' back, usually no ballast cuz the wake is nice as is. Guess I'm getting comfortable before I switch ropes back to the 70'. I had to do some serious shopping to find the baseline 55' rope.

yeah a started out between 18-21, the only reson i go faster, is so i can cut harder, to get a tad more line tension/ more pop, and the wake's a little less "mushy"

It also depends on your size. I have a buddy who boards and he is probably 6'4" and weights 275 and I have to pull him at like 25 mph where as when I ride I love 21 or 22 and I'm like 5"6 140ish

I am 6' 4" and am usually about 230 (currently out of shape). I usually ride in the 22-24 mph range. About a month ago, I was being pull by a driver that was not use to pulling me and was less than responsive to my signs and other telling him to speed up, so I gave in and ended up doing my first set at 19ish. What I found is that my jumps were so much better. I always thought I needed the speed to stay up and to get accross the wake, but found that once the boat was slowed to about 19, I got much more pop and still made it accross the wake. I have now adjusted my range to 19-21.

24.7mph at 80 feet behind the X-Star is where I ride... other boats really depend, but it ranges from 75' at 23.5-24mph or 80' at 24-25mph.
