| Ah, I hear ya on that. Only a select few are dependable back home in Ohio. Most of my friends have nothing better to do than drink, party, and drink some more at the party, so they can't wake up at 6AM to get to the lake. Here in Florida, luckily, the guys I live with are always down to ride so it's a relief to have them. |

I know exactly how you feel and agree that the punctual are few and far between. I have one guy that recently moved here and has been on time or early every time and has never shrugged a gas payment ever. This is out of at least 12 different people I ride with. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Not only do I have a problem with waiting on people....they never pay gas money unless I ask and push, making me feel like a prick in the process _________________ 2007 Mobius LSV |

Wakeboarder3780 & Brando86, x2 on gas. Some people will come out and I understand if they're not a boater or rider that they might shrug off gas, but a few I know that do ride occasionally won't cover gas and that's what tends to bother me. Down here, we tell people to bring gas money (easier since it's more of a "club" for school than just coming to ride) so it's not bad.
Had a buddy I rode with back home that actually refused gas money from me, but I still left it on his boat anyhow haha. I can't not leave something behind though, I like to be invited back . |

Just south of Canton... normally ride at Tappan Lake, Salt Fork Reservoir, or the Ohio River. |

God I agree, seems like Im always the first one at the ramp, towing the boat and have to pull teeth to get $10 in gas. And thats not per person. |

Ahh nice. I'm in Cleveland.. we have a few spots in the Sandusky Bay we ride at. And when we feel like making a haul we cruise the Huron.
Tried the Sandusky river a few weeks back and trashed my prop |

Oh dude i think this is a general problem everywhere. I dont have the best boat, but its decently nice and everyone rides for free...but we always wait. Myself and one other guy load up, put in, drive, pull out, clean up, and pay for gas. The least that others could do is be on time for the ride and not complain.
Cliff notes: Who DOESN'T like a free ride on the lake? ungrateful people... |

I was actually just thinking and broke this summer down in my head. Every time I go out, besides myself and my wife, we typically have 6 others on board. Out of those 6, at LEAST 4 of them strap on their board and do 2-3 sets totaling 1 hour per day. One guy gives me $5 every now and then, and another gives me $10 or so. I have had 2 breakdowns this year, while only totaling $200..still came out of my pocket. So basically I put $60 of gas in the boat every trip out, and use $10 myself on the water (maybe). If i'm lucky I may receive $15 back if the guys remember money. I pay for repairs, and have not once had a helping hand in wiping down/waxing the boat (my wife doesnt count) and I havent even figured in gas for my truck. If I didnt get some quality beer time on the lake, I may have a meltdown. Thats not even really thinking about the time I spend waiting, and the amount I pay for the boat/insurance.
\rant
In the end though, my boat is something I enjoy whether or not I spend the money. I'm not forced to take the boat out, I choose to spend the money for a day of "fun"...which lasts 30-60 minutes per day while i'm behind that boat

I think something to think about is that if we didn't love the sport we wouldn't waste our time or money... seems like the good days make it all worth while and the bad days just make us complain on the forums... _________________ Lake Shelbyville, IL |

Brando86 & brichter14 +2 that's exactly how it is. It can really eat at you sometimes but when it all comes down to it, we'd probably pay all the gas for the buddies and do all the work ourselves just because we love the sport so much.
It is good to connect with other people on the forum that know EXACTLY how you feel though. What we really need to do is all move to the same spot and just take turns driving our boats. We would all know what it's like and we'd all pitch in with the chores and since we'd trade off driving everyone's boat you can just forget about pitching gas money. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Because their parents raised them that way usually. Most of the people I have taken or my friend has taken that just bail on you and don't even offer any help or gas money I find out are usually the children of parents who spoiled them or were never around to teach them any better. However a couple of them have been just complete sh1theads with good parents. |

WOW!! Some of you guys have sucky friends lol. The core crew I ride with are great. I usually start getting calls around noon on Fri. to see if I'm going out. The four of us split gas, beer, and food equally. I guess over the years we've had some dead beats come and go, never stick around long _________________

Only really have two people in my core group plus our wives. So if one of us guys can't go we have to invite others. It's nice to have two people, two boats, and two wives who love to be out on the water. We get plenty of riding time in and don't have to stay out there long unless we want to let their kid play on the sandbar. It's when one of us can't go that we run into some of these deadbeats that don't offer do anything. But I've met a few people who are not that get calls to go when we need more people. |
