Just wanted to remind everyone that as well as having fun, be careful on the water. There was a 6 year old boy killed over here last week, after being hit by another boat while boarding.

Very sad story. I dont know the people involved, but wouldnt wish it on anyone.

Here's a link to the story, not sure if everyone will be able to look at it as its in the local news:

I just heard about an 8 year old dying from a drunk driver and now this - a 6 year old. What the heck is wrong with people out there? I understand accidents happen, but cmon - we all need to make sure we're doing our best to pay attention out there.

Yet another reason to preach safety practices to anyone you can find. Chances are you might teach someone something that might have injured someone else.

Sad stuff, drive safe people!

Accident at the lake I go to.... Renters. I am sorry, but I think you shouldn't just be able to go rent a boat and scream across the water without a F'in clue of what you are doing!!!!!!!

Absolutely awful. We have a terrible problem with jetskiers constantly trying to run people over, they're not licenced and half the people don't know how to use them.

Sadly it takes a tragedy for something to get done about it.

Horrid. The poor family.

We have a major "jet skier" problem too. I hate city / gov't regulations... BUT... I wish there was a designated rec area for them.

My dad saved my aunts, his sisters, life when he was 19-20. (edit he was actually 14 talked to him last night.)
Grew up on the water his whole life, like 6years old.
He was pulling my aunt skiing and she fell, my dad powered down and turn around to pick her up. He noticed a boat going right for her, not real fast 10-12mph or so, but doesn't matter. My dad powered up and got between my aunt and the boat, they still didn't notice him until they RAN INTO MY DADS BOAT!!!! they were all looking at something on the shore or behind them.
PAY ATTENTION! Mad Evil or Very Mad

Prayers for the family.

About the jet skiers, why do you need a special license and training to ride a motorcycle but not a jet ski? And for that matter even a boat.

there should definitely be a boating course.. problem is, everybody thinks that he or she is already the best boat driver in the world

i belive it shoudl be neccesary for someone who wants to drive a boat to take a boaters safety course, i live on a lake year round, and you wouldnt believe som of the crap i see, people flinging tubers into rafts (seen that once) people driving at 20+ mph between a raft and the shore, and yeah jet skiers are hte worst, i hate it the most when your wakeboarding, and there they are 50 feet behind you cutting across the wake, sure to hit you if you fall, think about it, if you got a jetskier 50 feet behind you, and your going 23 mph, that 33 feet per second, giving them a bit under 2 seconds of reaction time before they would hit you
