So, what's everybodies opinion on this subject? i just started wakeboarding and went about 8 times behind a boat, and this week 2 times at the cablepark. i found jumping the kickers and sliding the sliders extremely fun (but they eat up my board, funk!), but also easier then jumping behind a boat. i'm already think about how to do a 360 off a 5 ft high kicker. what's everybodies preference? pro's cons? different boards perhaps?

if you like cable, and do it more often opt for a more park designed board, (slingshot recoil, ronix bill, etc)

I prefer cable! Every trick that can be done on the boat can be done on the cable, plus more tricks are possible on the cable. I also enjoy that you can ride at the same time as your friends, so you get much more riding time in. I also cant afford an expensive wakeboarding boat so I never could get really good at it. On a worldwide scale cable wakeboarding is more popular than boat riding, and cable is exposing people to this sport in ways that boat riding never could. CABLE IS THE FUTURE!

Boat riding is more difficult due to the lower pull and wake limitations, therefore some people seem to think it is more "legit".

well, tell u s more about your boat riding style, do you feel like the board cuts too slow, are you getting enough height, and what boat do you ride behind? obrien makes kinda cheap-ish boards, most dont have alot of inovative tech and whatnot, and there bases are made the sames as they have been made for basically 10 years. other companies like slingshot ronix and hyperlite are creating boards that have a more durable base that is built for taking the abuse of sliders. ronix's base is basically a sintered snowboard like base material. others dont really go into what there base's are but im sure board's like the slingshot recoil with a durabase material are made along the same lines. ronix and slingshot also use more exotic materials in ther boards and boots, materials you wont find in most boards to date, ronix's top 5 board's of 2010 have a carbonX in the board which is an inlay of carbon fiber placed on the board based on its rocker line, the x makes it much more rigid. on the other hand slingshot is making boards that are made to flex, similiar to a snowboard, only wider shorter and stiffer. the slingshots are pretty much ideal for cable or people looking for a board that is more forgiving, they have good pop, but are not going to be as much as a not flex board.

anddrewproses, the reason WAKEboarding behind a boat is considered more legit is because its where the sport started, and its allso pretty much the name of the sport resides from a boat "wake"boarding? but you have a good point

i ride behind a 190hp Draco somethingsomething, friends of a friends boat. okayish, smaller wake but no tower or pole.. so that reallly limits the height! i actually really like the board so far, i feel really at home on it.. i'll see how far it takes me, and if i trash it i'll sell it for 50 bux and get something ronixer Laughing ..

yeah id say stay with somthing along the lines of an aggresive three stage, considering it has a smaller wake you will get more air vs a continuos

Look around on Craigslist to find a good board for not a lot of dough. I only get to ride cable, I had bought a 2010 Liquid force trip new which was ripped up on the bottom in just a few months. I found a 2010 Ronix One on CL for less then I paid for the LF new. It has one of the toughest base on the market if not the most. ANd it feels like butter on the sliders and ramps. Totally changed my ridning style.

soo, i had a GREAT day at the cable park today.. used the kicker and managed to do indy's, boned out tail grabs, mutegrabs and some really tight 180's. also used the slider to do boardslide 180's.. great feeling!!! buttttt my clutch really cant handle the abuse.. there's a few nicks and dings. and a lot of scratches..

all in all i really enjoyed the cable!!

i dont know about the board, so personally i dont know how it would handle, but if your gonna be hittin sliders and ramps, it will take the abuse, considering its made for htem with a durable base. by what they say, i would assume it rides similiar to the ronix bill, but the best way to find out is to either demo it, or get the opinions from someone who does ride one. and then the one boots, i have them, and i love them, the the perfect flex for being able to set your board on edge, and tweak grabs

x2

da Liks, make sure you're taking advice from multiple people, in case one is just jabbering on and on and isn't necessarily right about anything that he says

The witness is a good durable board for cable, but feels nothing like a bill board. just saying.

Ok thanks, but does that really matter? like, is the bill the holy grail of boards, or will the witness probably please me just as well. take in mind i just started wakeboarding and coming from a 132 clutch..

what are the differences in "feel", in your opinion?

the bill is not the holy grail of boards at all, I'm just saying hawkster's advice may not be entirely accurate. your witness will please you
