So it seems to be the theme around here lately, but I also landed my first tantrum tonight. I was planning on posting some vids asking for pointers because for the last 2 weeks I couldn't seem to land it but was getting close. It will be another 50 mins before vimeo processes it but for anyone staying up late tonight, enjoy.

BTW - this was taken, edited, and uploaded from an iphone 4. I'm not zooming at all - just taking it from the boat. It was edited using reeldirector(currently 3.99) / uploaded using pixelpipe (free) if anyone wonders what apps i was using.

The reason I say this is because hands down the iphone 4 takes great video quality. Vimeo will end up compressing it some but trust me - it's gorgeous and a fast way to get edits in and get your video uploaded. If anyone else was wondering if the iphone 4 would be good for wakeboarding - it's got my approval.

Without further adieu:

Sick video for an iphone man. Congrats on the tantrum too. I just started boarding and can't wait to get there. How long have you been boarding?

Wakeboarder3780, hold your edge longer, it'll give you more pop. you're pretty much throwing that off of falt water and not even using the wake.

wakerook, Technically I've been board for 10 years. The first 7 years of that were all weekend warrior riding up at my dads cabin. I'd only get to ride about 5-7 weekends a year and was riding behind a little bayliner with zero wake. I've had the sunsetter for 3 years now and it makes a world of difference when you can go out every day you want to. I've progressed so much since having my own boat it's ridiculous - the wake on the sunsetter doesnt hurt either Wink If you want my best advice though. How I learned the most was focusing only on the easy basic stuff. Riding switch for entire sets until it felt comfy. Getting w2w jumps down in every position (HS, TS, switch HS, switch TS). Get w2w 180s in every position. Then everything just starts to "click". My advice to progress faster is get those basics down and you'll be rocking the bigger stuff in no time.

LFevo138, Thanks man it's been a long time coming. For the last year or so I would always end my set by throwing a tantrum with no rope - Id charge the wake, drop the rope and then throw it. Whenever I would try it with the rope i would get nowhere. Then I learned I wasn't squaring up to the wake and if I would have been able to flip i would have nailed the rope with the board Laughing So anyhoo that was the key to me landing this trick, turning away from the wake and looking at the shoreline and then throwing it.

LakeIolaLuke, I definitely still have some things to fix with this trick. I noticed on a lot of my [other unposted] videos I would flip before i ever got to the wake (actually i was flipping literally over the first wake not even using it). The problem I seem to have is that after I square up I have no idea where I am (I'm looking at the other shore).

How do other people do this trick? What I was doing was cut in hard, look to other shore a bit early, wait to "feel" the wake, and then throw it. Is it supposed to be more like do your hard cut, and then wait late enough that you only have enough time to square up and at that moment you need to throw immediately? I definitely have a little trouble with this trick yet. Even my rotation looks a little crazy sometimes like I'm not *really* rotating over the wakes.

I do have to say though I knew all it would take was landing one and I'd get the "feel" for it. After I landed the first one, literally my next set was the one where I landed 3 in a row. I cant WAIT to get back out on the water and drill these some more. Gonna take em switch after I get these down.

I would love to take it wake to wake. The problem is have is as described earlier. Once I square up I can't see the wake and I have no idea when I'm actually "up" it. Some of mine I actually threw before i reached the wake cuz I can't see where I'm going. How do you deal with that?

Your squaring up too early and getting rid of the line tension and momentum. Edge up to the wake and square up as your cutting through the wake, the trip will take effect you will boot way high and the flip will come way more naturally, you don't have to huck it, the trip does it all.

ah, so I'm not really throwing the trick right at all then. I totally throw it myself. I'll try that when I go back out. It's just so hard when you see that wake coming up so fast and you know you need to square up - it's definitely a game of chicken to see how long you can wait before squaring up. I'll mess around with it next time out.

Actually after watching the video again, the very last one I landed (1:55) it looks like I actually use the wake and cut up it a little more but I don't quite square up in time so the rotation is a little goofy. The last one I landed is pretty close to how I'm supposed to do them right?

Wakeboarder3780, You want to wait till the very last second to square up. I'm talking about when your at the very top of the wake pretty much. The nose of my board is almost coming off the top of the wake before I "square up" and initiate the trip. Do this and the wake will do all the work for you.

Good example here. See how far up the wake I am.

Ok yeah then I'm squaring far too early hence my problem of not being able to see. It's a shame the season is getting cool already. I should be going out this monday again, I'll have to play around with them a lot more.

When you feel the urge to square up, just tell yourself mentally to wait one more second.

Congrats though!
