Well you're clearly not letting them dry properly. Leave the board and bindings outside to air dry. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

I have em too and I'm going to try to hose them down with fresh water after each use. Maybeyou could try a febreeze or lysol type odor trapping spray and see how it goes.
btw, the tongoue goes on the inside.. _________________ Wake Forest University |

Let them dry outside, not inside where its going to be warm.
Dry them in a cool area, shaded area, shed or something.. i had the same problem, just washed them with the hose and let them dry in the shed = no smell! _________________ Do something gnarly! |

| Yeah, you really just need to find a way to dry them out before storing them. |

er you don't hose your kit down with fresh water after every use? That'll be your problem then, especially if you are riding on salt water, it's so corrosive. Kit should always be washed down and take the bindings off regularly to get rid of salt build up underneath them. eeewwwwww _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

LFADAM, well thanks for the heads up
Chocoholic, I've never done that in th 7 years I've been riding. I doubt most here ride in salt water and all my previous setups were open toe and didn't hold in mointure at all.
I typically have hung mine upside down in the board rack to air dry. But with the closed toe, if water takes a full day to dry and seep into the binding it should probably be fresh water and not lake grime.. _________________ Wake Forest University |

Well if you're riding on fresh water it's not such a problem, the kit just needs time to dry and air properly. Sadly we only have the option of sea riding and it literally eats your kit. The metal on my bindings is vanishing before my eyes even though I wash everything down after every session. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

| my ronix smell bad if I bring them from the boat to the house still wet. They don't fully dry so I guess they got that moldy smell. I would say the solution would be to leave them on your pouch for a few hours and hopefully they dry more! |

mold? Like you actually have mold growing in them or they are just stinky? If you ride late and they need to be in your room I think you just need to suck it up IMO, they can't smell *that* bad.
Isn't there another room you could put them in away from your cat where they could dry and smell up the place and you wouldn't care? I leave my boards in the back of the suburban and then I never have to move them. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Vinegar is your best friend. Its a natural deodorizer that isn't corrosive, when towels or anything start to smell musty/mildew, I add a cup of vinegar in the washing machine with laundry detergent and it removes the smell every time. (It won't smell like vinegar when its clean)
I left my vest on the boat last week and it stayed wet over a day...big mistake. Made it smell musty/mildewy. I soaked my vest in the sink with some laundry detergent and vinegar and took the smell right out.
Give it a try, its the only thing I've found that works to get the mildew smell out. |

Right on, I do this all the time for stuff that gets the "old, wet towel stank" to it. When it comes to the bindings, you can also spray them with Lysol instead of Febreze. Febreze just covers up smells. Lysol actually disinfects and kills some of the microbes that cause the smell. I do this with my hockey stuff every time after I'm done playing and after two years it still has ZERO stink to it (my old equipment smelled horrible because I left it in my bag wet a few times-smell never went away).
The biggest key is drying, though. Until you figure out a way to dry them completely, they will continue to stink. Putting them in a dark place aids mold growth, so try to put them somewhere that they will get plenty of air circulation and light. BUT keep them out of direct sunlight as much as you can since UV rays degrade the materials.
A small room with a dehumidifier would be best if it is an option. _________________
