|
|
For the last two years I have learned on and ridden a 2008 LF Trip 146 and 2008 LF Watson CT Bindings. Looking for a new setup for next year. Looking for something that will pop me further out (not higher) in hopes of being able to get the W2W jump down.
I ride behind an I/O. After speaking with the guys at Grizzly Sports, here is what they have suggested.
I will be getting 2010 Ronix One Bindings (size 10-11).
As for a board it has been suggested that I go to a Slingshot Recoil 142 (or any flex board). I am 250+ lbs. The reason for suggesting a flex board being that it lands softer for a 30+ year old, and will help with the jump going further out not neccessaily higher.
If you agree with that, any ideas for cheapest Ronix Ones and SS Recoil, either 2009 or 2010?
Thoughts?
Thanks |

| sounds like a good setup, if your looking for just w2w and maybe throwin some grabs or 180s a flex board should be fine, as far as boots go i have ronix ones, absolutly love them, very solid custom fit and if you buy the ones from boardstop and use the coupon code :forumuser you get 10-15% off other wise go search around ebay and look at outlet regions of online stores, if you go to a pro shop and dont have any connections to get good deals your gonna be paying top dollar |

It really all comes down to proper technique and edging. If you find the right amount of speed, edge and pop to go wake to wake you will land on the other wake and it will be like a landing ramp. If you go into the flats you are going to have a rougher landing no matter what board you are on. I have not ridden a flex board so i cannot confirm or deny the soft landing. But bending your knees on the landing and squating down will help with absorbing the landing.
Ronix makes some good bindings. I have the cells from 2009 and they are super comfy. I tried on the 08 ones and they were comfy as well, but i never rode them. The bindings sound like a good choice.
As far as the board the common response is to try and go ride the slingshot. This is good advice. However, if you are unable to ride/demo one do some online searchers for reviews. You can also search this site for reviews on slingshot boards. I hope this gives you some help. |

| I am about the same size as you. I recently changed my set up from a Hyperlite ERA 147 with LF Index bindings to a Ronix one with 2009 CWB Zeus bingings. If you can find a pair still, there is no better binding. My new board is a lot slower, but I am learning how to make it work. I get far more pop and the landings are great. I did get my hardest faceplant ever though, the first time I tried switching. The stock 1 inch fins are too big. I changed to the Hyperlite 0.8 P fins and all is good again. |

| yeah, i ride a one too, and it tends to be a little slow, and very easy to catch an edge and get whiplash/faceplant. And gryphon, try shortening your rope 10' or so, even if the wake is really skinny, then you can progress farther back until you got your sweet spot on speed and rope length, by th e way, what speed and rope length do you ride at? and operationrol, what state is the rockford that you live in. |
