I ride goofy foot.
I can do switch, but just can ride like that for more than a second and have to switch back to goofy foot.
It just feels very uncomfortable and unnatural.

Anybody has any suggestions on how to get my body used to riding regular?

Thanks.

he rides goofy normally. Goofy is just the name for right foot forward, this goes for any board sport.

Regular is left foot forward. Switch from regular is right foot and vice-versa. Goofy is not the name for the opposite stance of however you ride.

On to tc problem. When riding switch try dropping your back hand and ride like this a bit. Do some carving and really focus on weight distribution on the board. It takes a while but I used to be where you are and just this season I can't hold on the rope with both hands and pass over the wake both ways in switch. Almost ready to try jumping I think.

I think riding in switch isn't very important but you need to be able to land jumps in switch, adding a 180 to tricks really adds a lot of style and finess...I think.

For me it is very uncomfortable if I don't have my bindings setup just right. I have a bad back and I feel twisted all out of sorts if my feet aren't just right. When I do get the right setup... I'm just as comfortable goofy as I am regular.

Hawkster, sorry mate but you really need to go back and learn the basics before you think about giving others advice, it's clear you don't have a clue what you're talking about most of the time.

To the OP, I ride goofy and it was horrible when I started riding regular, but trust me it's all about practice practice practice. The more you do it, the better it'll feel every time. One thing I notice when many people start trying to ride switch for the first time, is that they tend to lose the bend in their knees, so they feel very off balance. So remember to keep the bend in your knees and watch that your front knee doesn't lock out straight, as is what I also tend to see happening.

As Enygma says, dropping your back hand will help. It's all baby steps, it's like starting from scratch again, but you'll get there and soon you'll be riding half your set switch no problem.

noga88, thats how EVERYONE feels at first and I know the feeling. You hate to try it because it feels so weird and it feels like you're taking 3 steps back in your ability. You can play around only riding regular but it's really going to make progressing very difficult.

The key to learning switch is forcing yourself to ride switch for more than just a few seconds. Ride switch for 80% of an entire set - at least 10 minutes. I think you'll find after you go out about 3-6 times, you'll feel very different about switch. Some of the discomfort will fade if not disappear and then you'll just have a few things to work out until you can ride switch as well as you ride regular!

Good luck and try not to get frustrated. Allow yourself to relearn!

(I rode switch for like a month this season going out 2-3 times a day and it was amazing how much better i could ride switch after that month)

To add on to what wakeboarder has said, also once you're a bit more comfy riding switch, start coming up switch as well.

I posted this in one topic already and I'm sure I'll be posting it again later:

I do this every time I get up now and it has helped immensly. Maybe skip out on the backside 180's at first and focus on front side. There's sooo many benefits to this drill:

-great way to warm up before your run
-learn switch riding
-feel for 180's front and backside
-better board control regular AND switch
-doing to backside 180's will help a LOT with rope awareness when you take them to the air and start doing 3's
-skip the handle pass and go into blind to get a feel for that. Play with the formula of the drill a bit.

And I'm sure there's more:)

just takes practice, you felt ackward and out of sorts when you first started riding at all, but learning to ride switch will become more comfortable faster than first learning to ride regular/goofy
