|
| I'm planning on getting new bindings, and I rented a 2009 Hyperlite Marek with 2010 Hyperlite Team bindings. I liked both a lot, but I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with the Hyperlite Team bindings? I want them to last a long time (even 5-6 years is fine with me) without having to ever bring them in to be repaired, etc. My old bindings were 2006 Liquid Force LE Watson, and they lasted 4 1/2 years without ever bringing them in or anything. |

| ronix is known to make the best bindings, so if you want a pair to last go with ronix, plus theirs are the only heat moldable bindings |

I don't agree with that statement at all. Ronix makes some great bindings, but you can't leave out Liquid Force, Hyperlite, and CWB. There are others as well. My personal favorites are Liquid Force.
And I'm pretty sure that several other companies utilize some sort of heat molding. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

if you want to have to replace your bindings regularly, get hyperlites. They are poorly stitched and lace eyelets rip out of them all the time. If you want your boots to fill with water, get liquid force boots on the air-ride chassis. they leak like crazy. If you want comfortable, durable boots, get ronix. _________________

I went to my local shop and was looking for the most comfortable boot they had. We tried on just about everything in the store. every single ronix binding I tried on felt great. I went with the cells because I wanted something close to my snowboard boots for stiffness.
Even their cheapest open toe boot felt good though. I had no complaints.
One thing to keep in mind is that your foot shape and size will play a huge roll in this. My feet are pretty wide. So the hyperlite and liquid force were just way too narrow. I wondered if all their pro riders had ladies feet? Or do they get custom made wider ones done up? Because even with a lot of goop, once my feet were in they were cramping up terribly. Even going to bigger sizes only increased the length, the width never seemed to get wider.
The ronix just slipped right in, and as comfy from the start. Here I am in the middle of our season up north with almost 50 sessions on my boots, and they still FEEL great.
My complaints about the ronix:
There is a heel strap that goes around on the inside of the boot. It ripped right off after about 20 sessions. I have heard of other people having the same issue. I am a bit crafty, so I built my own NEW heel strap out of webbing similar to what you find on a backpack strap. No more problems! Others have been able to bring theirs in for warranty, but I figured it would just break again anyway, so I fixed it myself and have no worries about it breaking again.
The stitching has started to let go on the outer boot where the lower and upper half come together. It is double stitched, and only the one stitch is coming out. It has been like this for the last 20+ sessions and has not gotten any worse. I think it comes from me opening the boot up wide to slip my foot in.
Otherwise, all is good. Hope that helps you a bit _________________ I am not very good. But LOVE to fly! |

Does anyone have any experience with these Byerly Pro bindings?
http://www.byerlywakeboards.com/product/0/41013/_/Byerly_PRO
I tried them on at our local shop and I liked the feel of them. Also, I like that they have the laces going through loops, instead of stitched on.
The shop I went to did not have any Ronix bindings so I can't really test them out (our shop allows us to demo anything we want for a day). |

It certainly looks good.
My concern would be with the thin padding. If you look at the base on it, there is still a whole base plate under the boot. So to get it thinner they have to sacrifice something. They try to market it as a "feature" when they say you get a truer feeling on the water because you have less padding between you and the board.
Ronix has got their profile lower by making the base plate totally open in the middle. It allows the padding to still be thick enough that you get some cushion for your landings.
If the boot feels good on your feet though, and your comfortable with the price, then go for it. Your shop should look after you for any warranty work that you would need. so even if they dont hold up, replacement shouldnt be a problem. _________________ I am not very good. But LOVE to fly! |

| I'm gonna try them out Friday morning (gonna rent them) and see how they feel, etc. I just want bindings that will actually last, so I don't want junk. |

I've been riding with the team bindings now for a couple months and I like them ok. The only complaints I have are:
I feel like they don't keep my heel planted as well as they could
After a couple of tricks they start to loosen while riding which gets annoying. |

I vote ronix too. my 08 ones are fantastic. tried on some 09 LTD Liquid force shanes and they felt terribly stiff around my foot and were really uncomfortable. _________________ Wake Forest University |
