I've had my Liquid Force LE Watson bindings for nearly 5 years now, and all I've had to do is have a shop put in rings for the laces to go through after the stitching tore. Other than that, I have not had to buy bindings or bring mine in. If you take really good care of your board/bindings, I'm sure you could make them last at least 2-3 years.

If you get low-quality bindings, of course you will be replacing them every year.

Maybe this will help some: Early on I went through a lot of bindings, mostly because back then bindings were terrible. I can't believe how far binding technology has come in the last 6 years...

First pair: Hyperlite Shifters 1999-2000 (extremely uncomfortable.)
Second: Liquid Force Ultras 2000-2002 (replaced due again not feeling good on my feet)
Third: Hyperlite Spins 2003 (not very supportive, still have them as a set for beginners)
Fourth: (2001) Hyperlite Belmonts 2003-2006 (First pair of bindings that were comfortable on my feet, reluctantly replaced because the sunlight started to really degrade them, I purchased them used so they actually lasted 5 years.)
Fifth: Liquid Force Sphynx 2006-2007 (Again, not supportive enough.)
Sixth: Liquid Force Watsons 2008-current (Falling apart and will be replaced probably next week.)

I was wondering if it was because I am 210 lbs... that when I fall, it's like a whale splashing, and tearing up equipment! Laughing

Just take care of them and they'll definitely last you a few years. You definitely shouldn't have to get a new pair every year, that's a little ridiculous.

I've got some 2008 Ronix Relics (Bought them mid-late season 2009 though, closeout deals FTW!) and they're still going strong. I ride cable about twice a week and the only problem I've had is the top laces broke but I just threw on some regular shoe laces for the time being. Everything else about them is great although I do worry a bit about the baseplate breaking.

I'm on my second year with my Hyperlite '08 Murray's. I also have a pair of states that I got 4 years ago, and my brother still uses them. The only issues we've had with either set is laces and lace locks, no big deal. We ride a lot, at least 2-3 days a week.

The base plate is what broke on my O'Briens... can you just replace the base plate?

certain boots can certain ones cant,i dont kn ow about obriens though, they seam like kindof a cheesy brand with their boots. if you take them off and look at the bottoms you will notice if theres screws holding the baseplate or not, with obrien, my guess is that there not.

I really like a couple Obrien boards but their bindings are sub par at best. I actually have been rather unimpressed with my 09 Answers also. Got some Vantage close toes that I love. As far as bindings I would have to say Ronix or LF, in that order. This is excluding hyperlite because I have know experience with them.

well then you can probably search around ebay or craigslist and find a pair of bindings just like yours that maybe the actuall binding ripped or somthing along that lines for $20 then slavage the bases, or you might get lucky and find some bases.

I'll get new board every two years or more. And bindings probably every 2-3 years.

DRAGON88,

I just picked up a pair of 09 Hyperlite Mareks. They are extremely supportive and I think are very comfortable. I have had them for about a month now and have performed beyond my expectations. Again I have been really impressed with how stiff /supportive they are. Given your complaints I'd suggest givin em a shot.

yeah but one month isnt much of a wya to see how they last, im tlaking where them for a year, i probably board 3-4 nights mon-firdady for 15-20 min, and 2 hours each day the weekend, from mid may to october, and if my hyperlites dont last me 3/4 a season, and my next door friend who does equal amounts of boardin has had his ronix boots for 2 years and there still perfect, im gonna try ronix.

hawkster0001,

Good call. I guess I will check back about the bindings next year! I'm just pumped up about these after getting fed up with Murrays (went through three pairs this summer)

I'm using liquid force bindings now. As I posted earlier my o'brians are pooched for the second time. I say go with either ronix or liquid force.

I only ride a few times a month so I figure my bindings should last a while.

Well, I found some LF INDEX on EBAY for 110.00 They look pretty solid. Anyone use those. They are new 2009.

there an entry level binding, so if you dont do much, and are only trying w2w's and not any spins or flips they'd be fine, but you would proably be trying to much with them if you wont to progress in the sport, you can get a pair of 08 ronix oxfords 1.5-14.5 for 150$ here http://www.theliquidedge.com/details_binding_08_ro_oxford.html

but i've never had liquid force products before so i wouldnt know about there quality.

heres a vid of a tantrum with the oxfordsss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieIzURzYbTs comment rate subscribe?

I personally have never had a pair of hyperlites go bad on me. From the my first pair of "Air Shocks" to "moonboots" to "3060's to "Byerly's to"Belmonts" to "temets" to 2010 Team boots. You guys are hard on those things!!! I have torn several incerst from boards, but never ripped a binding, string, or cable. I would think a good setup should last at least 3 years from any manufacture. (unless hitting a lot of sliders) Sorry, just my 2 cents.
