Laughing Laughing Laughing haha.

Last time a dude did that with his giant barge when I was launching my boat, we just untied it and attached it to a nice big tree on the shoreline.

Hasn't happened since I started going to smaller lakes 4 years ago. Back when I went to the the "big" lake around here (Branched Oak) the ramp was a nightmare. 15-20 boats in the que to get in on any given Fri. and the reverse getting out on Sun. Last time out there I had some doosh pull around me from behind and start backing down the ramp to drop his boat. If the warden wouldn't have been right there and waved him off I'm pretty sure it would've ended in a fight.

I've never used a ramp with that design. Most ramps around here have 2-4 spots for launching and the dock is off to the side.

According to your drawing. There should be enough room next to the red boat tied to the dock to launch your boat. Jus' Sayin'

I've never used that ramp type either. I've been to a couple places that have that ramp type in one spot on the lake and I choose to find a better option. It's really easy to get congested. If the guy was loading on his own he doesn't have much choice but to tie the boat off somewhere while he gets the trailer, but it seems like he could have tied to the end of the dock and been out of everyone's way.

We have a ramp exactly like that and yeah.. it's annoying. The worst part is usually the dude has people hold the rope for him. So they could easily just walk the boat around to the other side of the dock that ISN'T in the way.

My other favorite moves are:
1) pulling your boat out and then park it in the middle of the driving lane blocking in about 8 trailers and not allowing other people to bull boats out effectively - just park the dang thing for the 5 minutes you button up.

2) People not going in the left or right lane when there is clearly room for them and or people dropping the boat in the middle of a 2 lane ramp. I kid you not I've seen a little jetski take up the middle of the ramp. Practice backing up the trailer before you try it at the launch maybe?

3) People not dropping their trailer even close to far enough in the water and then powerloading the crap out of their boat. Bunks aren't exactly meant to be driven up...

Fun stuff. Guess you gotta start somewhere though.

thats what i was thinking. here there are 3 lanes. 2 to put in in the morning and 1 to take out in the middle, and 2 to take out and 1 to put in in the evening. its not that hard. just have your buddy back the truck in, and drink a beer while your waiting in line. i really dont understand how people get so pissed off about it. sometimes its just fun to idle around and enjoy the show.

The stupidity at the public boat ramps never ceases to amaze me. So many people are either completely obtuse or completely inconsiderate. That's why I love the offseason. All of the tubers, mouth breathers, and weekend warriors put their boats away for the year and we get our creek back to ourselves. COME ON LABOR DAY!!! Laughing

I love holiday weekends, we usually leave the boat on the trailer, grab some chairs and just hang out at the ramp and enjoy the show.

Another thing that really ticks me off is when a boat pulls their tuber into a dock/ ramp area at idle speed, preventing any other boat from getting around them because they have 80ft of line out. Pull your tube in before you decide to go dock.

AGREED!!!!!! Actually the weekend before school starts back is the beginning of the best water of the year and it only gets better after Labor Day. I was loving the water but will be off of it for a few weeks unless my wife gets better but I'm not complaining as I've got a beautiful new son to take my mind off the water.

Here is a play by play of a dude blocking a whole ramp that is almost three wide:
backs boat to the edge of the ramp
gets out and piddles around for 15 minutes
multiple trips to the truck and in and out of the boat
took three trips to get his hat, wallet, and sunglasses in the boat
backs the boat to the edge of the water
gets out again and puts the plug in
backs down about a foot
gets out AGAIN and wades in the water to check the plug
piddles with the winch for about 5 minutes
backs down another whopping 2-3 feet
gets out AGAIN and sizes up the situation
back down until the wheels of the trailer go under
gets out AGAIN and checks everything out
asks his wife if he should unhook the boat
decides to loosen the winch a little
backs down until the boat starts floating a little
gets out AGAIN and sizes everything up
walks out on the pier and asks his wife why she isn't holding the bow rope
goes back for more winch action
tightens winch back up
backs down until front of boat is being pulled down
gets out AGAIN and climbs up the tongue over into the boat
throws his wife the rope which misses by 10 feet and sinks
spends a few minutes finding the rope (wasn't tied to the boat)
ties it to the bow hook and walks it over to her
goes to get back in the truck
my buddy who has been waiting the whole time to get our boat out of the water walks over and ask him if he needs any help
guy says "think i backed it down far enough?"
buddy says yeah man any further and your yukon is going to take on water through the back gate, exhaust pipe is bubbling
undoes the winch and wades out neck deep to push it all the way off the trailer
fusses at wife who let his new Tahoe from Bass Pro bang against the pier
domestic dispute starts brewing
gets back into his yukon after drying off and putting at least three towels in the seat
pulls up until the trailer is out of the water
gets out AGAIN and ratchets up the winch
FINALLY goes and parks the truck, albeit he takes up two spots
here is the kicker...they crank up and idle 20 yards across a cove and tie it to a tree by the park then get out and start lighting up a grill
45 MINUTES LATER we got to put our boat on the trailer

Holiday weekends are hilarious at the boat ramp around here. Even more fun watching the drunkards try to back their rusty ragged trailer with a crooked axle down to load up their 67 model fiberglass 15' "bass" boat that hangs 6 feet off the trailer when fully loaded.

Last year was our first year with a boat and we had no previous boating experience, and took took all of 2 minutes the first time out to figure out the right boating etiquette. Now it seems like everytime I'm loading my boat I have to tell someone not to sit at the dock, just drop off the driver and go back out and wait till your drivers back. Doesn't seem like it's that hard to figure out. Just common sense.

I'm so lucky to have a private ramp and jetty.

Occasionally we do head up lake and drop anchor to watch the goings on at the public ramps. Can be so funny at a busy time.

did your local Bass Pro Shops recently have a boat sale too??? I swear I think these idiots go in there on a Friday evening and get financing where their payment is like $150 then show up at the ramp Saturday about mid-morning when everyone else is ready to launch.
