I picked up an EVS knee sleeve for 30 bucks from buywake and it's been great. I hurt my PCL last year and know that some of my crashes, flats landings, and wake casings this season definitely would have re-aggravated it if it weren't for that knee sleeve.

Try out something small like that and see what it does for you. It might not stop the pain entirely but could greatly reduce it. Do you weight train or anything too? Just curious because the weaker the quadriceps and hamstrings are, the knee and its ligaments become more susceptible to injury.

Ya I go to the gym. The knee only hurts when casing the wake and on those big kicker hits. I don't know the injury, but it happened when I feel on a 5 and twisted my legs underwater. It also hurts when I try to standup. Is it possible that my knee gives out and i fall on some jumps? I find myself eating it for no reason on easy crap sometimes. Thanks.

So are you saying you just started to have knee pain after you fell on a 5? If that's the case and you've never had a problem before the fall then it sounds like you may have sprained your knee and I'd go see a doc especially if it hurts when you stand up.

well start out small like I did and see how it does. No point in spending 500+ bones for something that would help just as much or more for 30.

Here's what I got.

So i was having the same knee problem (intense pain on hard landing) and i went to a sports medicine doctor about it. He's said that a simple brace will help but thats not fixing the problem. He said what i needed to so was stretch everyday so prevent joint injury. And, man he was right. I ditched the knee brace and havn't had any discomfort since i started stretching my hamstings and quads every day.

He chalked it up to a certain "give and take" so like if you hamstings are really tight then they'll pull on the ligaments in the from of the knee causing them to hurt.

I'm not a doctor or anything close to it but i'm just telling you what worked for me so take it or leave it....

I bought one after I sprained my MCL. It keeps my knee from twisting and getting into wierd positions. Bought my DonJoy from doctorcloseout.com

duff_man757, had you injured it prior to the pain on landings though? Sometime a partial tear in a ligament or sprain doesn't quite heal to as strong as it was before, hence the brace. When docs tested my leg they notice there was a bit more movement before my PCL kicked in compared to my good right knee. So my PCL healed and was still doing its job, but not as well.

But things like quad/hammy strengthening and stretching should be important for any wakeboarder..

See thats the difference, i had no extra movement front to back or rotational. It was simply a terrible pain when i landed hard and then it would swell for a few days. I thought maybe it was cartledge or something and basically the Dr. called me a puss and told me i was out of shape and to stretch and gave me a handout with exercises.

one thats on there though that was for strengthening after a sprain is....
1) start at the top of a tall staircase
2) jump both feet at the same time to the next stair down allowing your knees to give upon impact and form a right angle
3) then stand up straight and do it again. and do that all the way til you hit the bottom, and trust me youll feel it.

supposively it works the same muscle and ligaments that work when bracing and impact
