Hi all-
I'm looking to purchase a board this weekend. I've always ridden friends' setups which always wasn't the best suited for me (they're advanced riders with bigger feet haha). At any rate, I've gone 6-7 times and have no issues getting up, carving in and out of wake etc. I'm now looking to progress even more and consistently land w2w jumps (without the usual face plant).

I heard some recommend the Hyperlite Forefront and the Ronix District. I was curious on people's opinions on the two (or other recommendations as well).

I'm looking for a board that will help me progress, that is quick and smooth yet stable and forgiving (to learn those jumps).

I also heard the Liquid Force PS3 is a good choice as well.

Thanks much for your opinions...truly appreciated!

i've ridden the district... i really liked it actually, it seemed nice and stable but still had decent enough pop... i'm not very good, i can do hs w2w's, ts 1 wakes, ollies and surface slides but that's about it.. but i had a lot of fun on the district. my buddy has the hyperlite package board and the district felt way better, especially the bindings. they're the first ronix bindings i have used and they were way supportive and comfortable, and i hear that their more expensive bindings are even better feeling. I don't have experience with the other boards but your best bet is to find a shop that will let you demo a few out and see what feels best to you.

Aaron -
Awesome feedback! Thanks a ton. When you say your friend has the Hyperlite package are you referring to the Forefront board?

Thanks again

I have a LF S4, which is basically the newer version of the PS3. I'm not exactly sure what all was changed between the two, but my S4 is a pretty slick but fast board compared to the other boards i've ridden. I rode a buddies HL Apex this past weekend and it felt much "stickier" compared to my board. Personally, I prefer the looser feel but that is just what I learned on and am used to. Really you just need to try to ride a couple different boards, figure out what kind of feel and response you want from the board, and then buy accordingly. I'm not familiar with the other boards you listed. From what I've read, the PS3 is a little bit slower than the S4, but other than that I think they are very similar.

The district is the 2009 Arcade shape. No changes other than graphics. The forefront is a garbage board. It comes with horrible fins, (those plastic hyperlites hold way to long and release way too abruptly, there's a reason every other company has fins with a rounded tip these days) and just doesn't have any ride qualities that make it stand out. for you, I'd recommend the state or wait for the 2011 Ronix Vault to come out. They are both assymmetrical shapes with a more stable toeside and a more aggressive heelside. The 2011 vault is Ferraro's 3rd generation of asymmetrical shapes, and has more features than any of the others you've mentioned that will help progress a rider at your level. The PS3 is a great board for all levels of riders, super forgiving, but still the same platform that Phil soven won so many pro tour stops on between 2006 and 2008

Thanks for the feedback. So was the Arcade not a good board (since District is the same)?

I'll look into the state as well as looking into 2011 vault if any info is around on that.

Thanks!
