Im having a hard debate on this. Im not sure which is better. Im looking for the board with more pop and more aggressive but with a soft landing. I was liking the ibex but ive heard of some problems with it delam and just plane old breaking within a few months.

the slingshot is good if you rid on chop allot. its a flex board so it wont have as much pop. it doesnt have any bottom features so it really drills proper edging technique into you. the ibex will cut really hard, pop like crazy, but it will beat you to death doing it. i have the slingshot, and have ridden the ibex a few times. personally i prefer the slingshot as its allot nicer on my knees and still has enough pop to boot me into the flats. get the SS you wont regret it.

I'm wonder would it be best to wait for the 2011 models. When do those get released? Which of the two boards is the lighter one.

im pretty sure the recoil is lighter. it definately feels lighter. at the end of the seasoon you could prolly get a good deal on a leftover 2010.

I'm riding a slingshot right now (response) and I can say it's worth a try. I don't know about them having less pop but I did have myself wondering if I was getting as high as I was with my LF shane. People in the boat assured me if I wasn't it was dang close, so i stopped worring about it. The slingshots are awesome just because they are SO easy to tail manual with. Not a sole reason to get their board but it's definitely fun and easy to do. The landings are softer with the slingshot but it's nothing that's like astronomically better. I will say though casing the second wake on the slingshot I don't even feel it in my knees. Before it hurt like heck. With regular landings though I don't feel like it's a ton softer though (softer in a crisis only).
