Alright, for the first time let me tell you a little bit about something that we have been working on over here. We've been keeping it a bit "hush hush" but I feel its at the point now that I can start talking about it.

We thought of how cool it would be to be able to have a slider that you can easily move around and adapt to different scenarios, like for urban winch riding for instance. So we got to work on developing a portable slider, that is not only expandable in length and width, but it can be angled up out of the water to boost you onto that retaining wall jib or over that waterfall in your state park. The project is in the later stages of prototyping and we are thinking that it will be available to the public in the later months of the summer. But to give you an idea of what it will look like, here are a few images.

just make sure it's heavy enough in weight or put some holes in the feet for spikes to hold it down, think the idea is GREAT!!!

Couple of questions 1. Could you possibly make it longer? How long is it now? 2. Could you post a pic or two of it in it's compact mode? 3. Cost?

isuckatwakin- If you own more than one or have a buddy that owns one you can connect the two increasing it's length in 8ft increments. We're stuck with the 8ft length if we want to be able to ship it standard FedEx. We can custom make any length that you'd like, but freight charges can be a bit costly. I'll collapse the prototype and take a picture of it and post it. I'd hate to get ahead of myself and say a cost just yet, but we're trying to keep the costs to a minimum. We want everyone that's passionate about sliders to be able to afford one and I promise that when it becomes available it'll be worth every penny.

Slidin out- The spikes are a good idea. This has been one of the issues with this project because everyone's application will be different, therefore different types of mounting methods have to be considered. We have been thinking about different types of feet that can be interchanged for different types of water bottoms. The weight of the single assembly is a rough estimated 60 lbs. Here is a couple updated pictures of the prototype portables in an up down configuration. I'll post some pictures of them folded up here shortly. Please, let me know what you think.

Is that just two of the portables put together? That's sick. If I could find a lake that I could always go to and if those are cheap enough, I'll get two.

Yea that's two of them put together, one in the flat configuration and one in the angled configuration and then you use the plastic cut to length to create a seamless gap between the two. I should have prices shortly, once all the bugs are worked out.

I want to avoid the "price shock," when you finally see the price so I just want to remind you that these sliders are made up entirely of 6005 T5 aluminum and that they weren't designed with "cheap" in mind; but with that said, you wont have a cheap feeling slider. This thing is solid. If Fat Bastard could press a slider this thing would hold up. We are passionate about the sport so we want to keep it affordable but our main goal is durability. We're probably looking in the $300-400 range. I'm not a salesman and I hate ranting like this. Let me know what you think man.

Would this be shaky at all? Seems like it would.. Is it hollow and can you angle the pieces that hold it up?

Eric mf- The idea behind this whole thing was for it to be portable. We're not looking to compete with the riders who want to build a long permanent feature for their shoreline with this slider (we have other things coming for that). I posted the picture of the two portables in the up/flat configuration to show what's possible if you own more than one portable or if you have a buddy that owns one. They are more suited to be used as a stand alone 8 ft winch slider that you can throw in your truck or on top of your pinto for a weekend at grandmas lake or in your front ditch after a heavy rain.

isuckatwakin- It is incredibly stable, not shaky at all. The plank is designed to span 8 ft and support a load of 2500lbs before permanently deforming. The A shape really helps keep it from any side to side movement. Also, the legs have 180 degrees of freedom and can be fixed in any of those locations. I'll post more pictures very shortly. Haha, there is never a stupid question. The latest pictures were shown with plastic (HDPE) and the others weren't.
