Hey chuck -
If I'm clumsy enough driving to run over the rope, and it's not my rope, the owner is getting a new one from me, period.

That horse crap...If you run over and damage someone elses stuff its that persons responsibility. You would think the guy would learn after the first one??? maybe the second one? But what the heck...three times!?!?!?!! Or was it the same person?

I will do that if I ever get out that way - unlikely at the moment but that could change.

In 12 years of driving I've never run over a rope. Of course, I don't drive riders at night and I always wear my contacts... Laughing

whenever we run over a rope we all put in to by a new one, no questions. we all ride with a pretty close group of guys - we all grew up together, so it's a community rope, we also have a few community boards for sliders and stuff. in your case i would say to get the driver to pay!

My cousin ran over me on Wednesday. Scary experience. I think he should give me his Parks bindings. If I were you as soon as I talked to the driver I'd have let him know the price and ask him if he/(she?) just wants to give you the money or wants to go buy it at the store themself.

Dude, thats harsh, why would he not cough up the bills? I'd give it to him strait and tell him that if he ever wants to use my boat again, he's buying me a new line...

The driver needs to pay. A mistake, yeah that can happen, but it's not cool at all if he refuses to pay.

I would say whoever ran it over should buy the new rope. If you buy it then your buddy wont care but if he has to buy it I bet he will be more careful next time because I'm sure he doesn't want to be spending $80 all the time.

the driver had better bust out the wallet or maybe next time you shouldn't bust out the phone.

any one will tell you that if you bought it then its your responsability to make sure it doesn't get run over! you can't expect the driver to pay attention to everything. the stereo, the chicks in the boat, the speed, the chicks in the boat, the cell phone ringing, etc. it is just too much and its not his fault. ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE LIES!!! no offense but your buddy is a dummy. you break it you buy it. or you can work it off by being the boat bitch for everyone. get the rope, get the wakeboards, get the.... for everyone. this is only if they are flat broke. or do like umali and get a handle that sinks so it is harder to run over. see you today on the lake!

i agree with otiswunguy, i bet if he forked out a bunch of $$$$ for a rope, his dumba$$ would not run over it

Chuck, sounds like you need a new crew!!! Laughing

Seriously though, if I run it over, I buy. It's as simple as that.

How the **** do you run over a rope?!?!?! If you have an inboard with a tower it is almost impossible unless the driver cut a turn as sharp as he could and was trying to hit it. The only time something like that has every happened to us was when my dads friend was driving and he poped it in reverse to pick him up We had an inboard with one of those steel cables going from both the transome hooks. It chopped a hole in our prop and cut the steel cable. He got us a new line and took the prop to get fixed. In conclusion I think he should pay for the rope entirly but if he is that much of an ass just get him to pay half and restrict his boarding and driving privliges.
