| Does anyone know how much weight I should put on this boat in order to get a good wake, and also does anyone know a good place to put the sacs. |

www.the2001.com for all your 2001 related questions!
I always have 100lbs of lead in the bow, and depending on who's riding no other ballast, or 1 540 in between the engine and backseat, or 2 540's beside the engine box.
Too much weight in the back will make the wake too steep.
Make sure you have the right prop if you load it down (ACME 542 or 9-something). _________________ FlyZone Wakeboarding Costa Rica |

| I've seen people on the2001 who say they have 1000lbs in ballast plus 4 people. Is it safe, I couldn't tell you...but they get away with it. I have an '86 2001, and I've got about 250lbs of lead in the back plus another 100lbs in sand bags in the bow. You definitely want to split up the weight. With all 350lbs in the back, it took a while to get the bow down on plane. Putting some up front helped a ton. For starters I wouldn't go over 400lbs total, which is 1 big sac or 2 smaller ones. Beside the engine cover, slightly rearward would probably be the best place but it takes away that walking area if you have a lot of people shuffling around. You could try and go 2/3 in the rear and 1/3 in the bow if you want the room on the sides. It's hard to say exactly what to do, as it will come down to what works best for your setup. Start small so you can move things around with trial and error, then when you get everything to your liking, bump up the weight. I'll also say I have the middle rear seat out of my boat, not sure if the '87 has the 3 section rear or not. If you don't use it you could remove it for the room. |

When I had a 83 2001 I switched to a OJ 4 blade. I am not sure what the Acme version is but it really helps when you load up the older 2001 boats. We kept the 3 blade as a spare. _________________ Wakeskating
