Are skate and wake helmets the same and what kind do you recommend. Need to get one for my son.

No not the same they use different foam. Wake helmets have a foam that doesnt absorb water where as skate helmets suck water up like a sponge and dont offer the same protection. Every ones got different shape heads i reccomend you try them all on and see what fits best.

Different foam helps to avoid mildew/mold as well.
