cable park tips

i and my son are gonna try out wakenation soon, he is 7 and this is his third year riding. this will be the first time for both of us at a cable park, what can you guys tell me that will make it go smoother ?

When you come to Wake Nation, try out our new practice pond which features a two tower cable system. It's incredibly easy to get up on. We have not found one person who cannot get up on the practice pond. Once you master that, head to our big lake where there is always a pro on hand to give you all the pointers you need. If you are a fairly good rider already, you can skip the practice pond and hit the big cable right away. See you at the cable.

If you can already get up on a wakeboard and are fairly comfortable riding, there's not too much of a difference.

The biggest problem people seem to have is getting around the corners. There should be a set of bouys at each corner that you want to go in between. The best advice I can give is to edge (VERY mellow) out to the buoys and as you pass through them, turn in the direction that the cable is now going. Basically the idea is that the cable will pull you where it wants to go, you're not going to be able to overpower it, so just follow it.

The reason you want to edge out to the buoys is that they key to getting through the corners is line tension, if you get too much slack, you're gonna have a bad time. It'll take a little tweaking to get the timing/edging right, but you'll figure it out after a few tries.

Just go inbetween the boueys, but go as close to the outside buoy as you can and remember to turn the board in the direction your going to go. Flatten off before every obstacle and hit a kicker that is heelside for you first, it should be easier.

just let the operator know it is your first time, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

ya matts right. usually you gett\ nice operators, but sometimes you could get one like the door knob at our cable. he asked a kid if he was scared of the sharks, the kid said no im not retarded, then the operator said ya your a Kneetard bc he was kneeboarding. thats Jeff for ya.

I have been to Wake Nation a few times, and I have yet to see a bad operator there. Everybody I have seen has been very friendly and helpful with the new riders.
