| Looks Expensive! I used to have one for the TV/VCR/STEREO/DVD and it was probably like 14.99 at Costco. So I'm betting you can pick up a decent one for a lot less than 150 GBP. The $14.99 one worked great too. |

Seriously..... the Harmony remotes from Logitech are worth EVERY PENNY!!!
We had the same scenario about 4 years ago. My wife and kids would constantly screw up the settings on the home theater by hitting the wrong buttons on any one of our 5 remotes. I would get calls at the office on a weekly basis when they screwed it up so bad that they couldn't get the TV to turn on.
I spent about $100 on the a Harmony remote and we have never had a problem since! One button will turn on/off everything no matter what the settings need to be. They are super simple to program. It's a matter of going to their website, selecting the components you have from their database (which has EVERYTHING), and then setting the order of which components must be turned on. Then you simply connect the remote to your computer via USB and download everything with one click. AFter that you're good to go.
If Perfect Pass is the marriage saver for boats then the Harmony remote is the marriage saver for home theater! _________________ "I'm not a professional wakeboarder, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night". |

Thirded. The only problem with the damn things is that you will eventually get one for the bedroom too. _________________

Harmony remote is a no brainer. You can get the color LCD touchscreen if you want to look fancy, but cheaper ones will function just the same. Actually on amazon it looks like the One isn't too much more than the 670, which is what I usually recommend. The prices have changed a lot.
I've had mine for 5 years and it's still going strong. I've helped install them on 4 or 5 systems now and everyone is ecstatic with the results.
Personally I like having batteries in mine. That way in 2, 3 years you can just buy new rechargable batteries instead of having to go to logitech to get a new battery pack. I also wonder about the longevity of the color touch screen. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| If you want IR, get the Harmony 880.. if you need RF (like me), get the 890. |

I have the 550 - does everything i need it to, and I don't like the designs of the 800s and above.
My dad has a 890. Loves it.
I bought a family friend a 510. They love it.
My brother has the xbox model. He loves it.
Harmony remotes should be a no-brainer for EVERYONE that has any type of TV/Entertainment system that is more than a TV.
I have:
-LCD TV
-Cable Box
-Xbox 360
-Apple TV
-Mac Mini
-Surround Sound
One remote and functions perfectly. _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Would purchasing a refurb be a bad idea? _________________ RIP DLS.

wakeboarderdave1, I wouldn't but I don't buy refurb ever. The first 3-4 refurb items I bought all broke on me within 2 months. It soiled me on the process. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Yeah, I generally don't like buying used electronics. Even if something is a factory refurb, you don't know the true kind of abuse the past owner might have put into a product. _________________ RIP DLS.

I bought my 550 brand new off of ebay for $89 shipped. At the time the exact same remote was being sold in stores for $129. My remote has worked flawlessly for the last 4-5 years. Only last week did the "volume down" button stop working intermittently. _________________ "I'm not a professional wakeboarder, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night". |

| As everyone else has said, they are worth every penny. My dad has one of the 800 series. Took about 5 minutes for me to set it up and I haven't had to reset it at all. Still works great. I will probably end up getting one for myself w/in the next year. |
