This financial crisis is forcing California State and local agencies to make some tough decisions. If things continue for much longer, there's a real risk that we may have to lay off Jose.

good stuff.
Actually on the note of construction workers, the city is replacing our power lines which run under ground to each house. There is a massive project to re-auger holes to put the new lines through. The same guys were working outside of my house for 4 to 5 days last week. Never once did I see more than 1 guy working at a time. One guy would do the work, others would stand in the shade or sit in the car. Others would be typing on their phones or walking around. For 3 days I noticed this phenomenon. I wonder how much money could be saved if they cut back the crew to only the people who work.
Then of course I'm sitting here on wakeboarder.com and they're probably thinking the same thing..
