determination,

Have you found a baseplate yet? If not, what kind of pole are you using for the pylon? If you are using threaded conduit, you could just go someplace like Lowes or Home Depot and go where they sell the Conduit and all the elbows, fittings, etc. and get a galvanized threaded baseplate. The baseplates are round and usually have 4 to 5 screw holes for mounting them. Just screw the plate into the floor of your boat and thread the pylon into the baseplate...It should work, although I've never tried it. If you can get underneath to where you'd be screwing it in, you might want to try and reinforce the floor a little. The best part is the baseplates are only a couple bucks and you should be able to get it in whatever diameter your pole is. Hope that helps.

Conduit is way too thin for use as an extended pylon. You might be able to get a plumber to thread a thicker pipe then use a flange to mount to the deck.

www.mcmaster.com

search for flange. they have a 3in forged steel galvanized flange for $24. I bought one for my homemade set up at Ace hardware. Bought the pole (threaded ends) and base plate (flange) for about $20. I primed and painted it black and it has not rusted at all. I use it in saltwater and am into the 2nd season. just spray some wd-40 on the threads so it spins easy.

One more thing...I mounted my flange on a 3/4 in piece of pressure treated plywood. then screwed some 2x8's across the bottom (so the bolts from the flange don't touch the boat) then carpeted the whole thing. That way I can take it out of the boat when I don't need it and I don't have any holes in the floor.
