You sure? I'm not seeing news stories about it. If so I might jump on BP stock real quick. In and out.

Also in recent news, Wakebrad replaced the muffler bearings and flushed the blinker fluid after upgrading his flux capacitor in his Lincoln Towncar he drives down Wall Street.

A weld ring may act like a plug or more like a gasket if it's a T-type. Imagine you have a 1/2" hole in a tank, and you take a 1/2" panhead bolt or carriage bolt, drop it in the hole, and weld the head to the tank.
I guess you could do this with the leak, maybe it's what they have planned, but from what I've seen I don't think it's the right device as the outward pressure is significant. I haven't read up in the slightest on this but I would think they'd drop a containment box of some sort over the pipe after the pipe was cut clean. Cutting with the shears they use at that elevation doesn't give the accuracy to run a continuous weld around the diameter of the pipe with a giant 'weld ring' type plug. Diamond blade saws get pretty sloppy working in an outburst of oil and opposing currents.

On a side thought, they may be placing a hat on the pipe, sort of like a reduction flange to place a lift pipe on top if they actually did use the term weld ring. Non-T-type.

Fyi...I am approx. 400' ft from the discoverer Enterprise....which is directly over the well spilling its guts. I can feel the heat from the burn flame. My office window looks directly at it. I am directly involved in the ops....can't really say much or I will get fired. Needless to say, there is an armada of ships out here...I am amazed. My boat (Viking Poseidon) is the lead vessel and all tracking and underwater positioning go through my office for the entire ops. LOTS of responsibility right now!

Been out here in gulf shores Alabama for the past week working for american medical response posted at the beach clean up sites. So far the beaches are clean for te most part, some tar balls washing up at some. But holy he'll, how do people deal with the weather out here??? 80-100% humidity 112 degree heat index, the cleanup crews are getting heat exhaustion like crazy. Can't even imagine what the clean up crews wearing the hazmat suits are going through. Thank god I get to sit in a ambulance a lot of the time. Will get some pictures to post up in the next week.

_bruky, hey man, it's been good. Our boat has just been taken offsite for another job (thank goodness), its being replaced by the Olympic challenger. When I left, they had an oil tanker pulled up next to the enterprise being filled up, and the enterprise and another platform burning what they cant get processed. Its still leaking, but not as bad. I am glad to be out of there...I have had to were a full gas mask a few times b/c of the VOC levels were getting high. Plus with the roar of the flames, it's nice to get back to the peaceful sounds of the ocean.
Leaving this....
And heading to this....love it out here!
