I posted this on learnwake but i figured here would be good too. I'm definitely not getting the height I need for my backroll. Let me know what you guys think.
hello, i'm not an expert (quite the opposite to be honest) so not really sure of what i'm saying...
Anyway from your video it seems that your are not using a good progressive edge but just cutting in very fast at the last second. You start edging, you stop and then start again, why?
Also it looks like your are not standing tall on top of the wake - and as the guys said the same to me i guess i can say it to you too
Looks like the board slips of the wake instead of popping.
In your other normal jumps you stand tall but when you go for the roll your legs are bend.
Keep it up though!!! I will laugh when i'll try to do this - i predict a lot of crashes!!

Basically that. You're really inconsistant with your edge, it's not progressive, not smooth, and not hard enough. You MIGHT be able to muscle it around with the right amount of luck (but you won't be consistant) but you should really get back to your basic wake-jumps first. Get comfortable jumping the wake and throwing grabs with some hang-time before you go to backrolls.
Thanks guys. I just realized how bad I look in this video. Buuut, this is what I was "trying" to do. This is why I was doing sort of a double cut to keep it at a one wake attempt. I should've clarified first. Still great advice though.

cross12920, I went back and looked at your April and Memorial Day Weekend vids as well. You are definitely charging the wake and, when you do make your w2w's, you are getting by on speed without much height. For whatever reason, your w2w cuts are nice and then you let off as you approach the trough and ride up the wake. You should be edging your HARDEST at the very end.
You do the opposite-you edge nice and hard and then let off so that you decelerate as you ride up the wake. Often, you are charging the wake so hard that your speed carries you over. If you improve that progressive edge, your height will improve with it and thus your "air time" to pull this trick off. _________________
