My buddy bought an 09 cwb absolute. Its the black and white one with the leather strap going over the top. Anyways, when we all ride it it feels like its dragging in the water. We all get super tired while using it. I have a cwb faze and it feels amazing compared to his board. Why does it drag?

I think it's just the design of the board but I'm not 100% sure. I ride a lot of "fast" boards and they don't drag at all, but when I go back to riding, say, a 2008 One , it feels reallllly slow and dragging, and same when I tried out the 2010 One (not terrible drag, but enough for me not to like it).

Yeah you can see the rocker on it and it is probably why its so much more work to ride behind than my faze. Tou can def notice the difference in the pop though

Yeah it's likely because it's an agressive 3-stage board. My first 3 stage I was pissed at because it felt like I was riding a shovel head, it plowed like a tractor. I'm getting more used to them now. I ride the Shane and I friggen loooove it.

I did notice once that I had to work hard for an Absolute, but that was at least 5 years ago now. Maybe if you ride a little faster you might have less drag? I don't know how fast you ride or anything.

holdsworth, I feel the same way about the one. It's a great looking board, but it carves like a 2"x4".

Would getting a bigger board stop him from getting tired while riding it even with the rocker?

It could help. I ride a larger board because I like the faster feel, but the three-stage will always feel a little slow I think. You might look into something with a dual rocker. (best of both worlds kind of)

Although 3-stages are typically "slow" by comparison to continuous rockers, the sensation that I felt for the Absolute that I rode years back was something completely foreign to me. My board at the time, along with several boards to follow, were all 3-stage boards. None of them felt like that.

So maybe it's something to do with the Absolute shape, who knows.

All this complaining about the absolute and I was gonna buy one...right now I'm kinda set on a 2010 mana but we'll see what I end up with.

The Absolute is not the fastest board out there. Are you guys riding it with fins? That will slow it down and is not necessary on that board.

Enygma, if you are thinking about the Absolute, let me just do you a favor and recommend the Transcend. It is just altogether a better board. I rode the Absolute for a few years and the Transcend destroys it in terms of speed, pop and landings.

Enygma, it is still a sick board, but these comments are definitely something to consider. I have never ridden the Transcend, but Stephan's review sounds like it's accurate from what I know from holding both boards before.

Enygma, If you don't want a board that drags, don't get a mana. one of the slowest boards on the market
