Hi guys, same old question for you on the board selection...

I recently started wakeboarding and i would now like to have my board so i can start to know it, get use to it and improve..
I've been trying a LF substance 134 (don't know the year of that board tho).
It's this one
Is it the 06? Too old?!

I am 145 lbs and 5.8 athletic.
Is the 134 too short or OK?

I've also tried a LF 137 (don't remember which one, sorry. It is grey on the bottom with liquidforce in green and on top is white with a red and black design. If not wrong it should be this) and i felt it more stable especially on the landings but less poppy i guess.. Smile
The 134 gave me the impression of being less forgiving even while carving. 137 was smoother.

As i said i'm at the beginning, but i can do W2W HS and starting to put some grabs into it. Slowly progressing on the TS jumbs and practicing switch also ollies..

As usual your help would be a big big plus!! Cool

Thanks

/nox

Personally I'd go for the bigger board, at 145 you are kind of on the bubble as far as size range. Pop off the wake depends on a lot of other factors, Shape of the board, rocker, fin configuration, overall surface area and weight. A continuous rocker will ride faster with less pop, while a 3-stage rides slower with more pop and is more forgiving on spins and slides.

I've never ridden either of those boards, and clicked the links but didn't really see any specs on the rocker of either one.

I am 160lbs and 5'11''. and I ride a 134. somtimes I feel like its to long. I have always liked short boards though. I like the board to be more agile under my feet

mucksoup, I hear ya, some do prefer shorter boards. I've ridden a 136 and 138 and both seems real sluggish to me (I weight 225) like they were riding low in the water. I ride a 141 now, and it's ok, but after riding the Murray PIF 145 and comparing the videos, my next board will be a 145.

So shorter should be more responsive?

I found the description for the 134 HERE

and a general description of the susbstance of 06 HERE

I'm more and more thinking about getting the substance 134 or should I go for something new as this board is from 2006??

How old are you? Are you going to continue growing? Because if you are, then the 134 might be too small because you'll outgrow it. If not, then the 134 could be just fine.

Also, the Substance is one of my most favorite boards ever. It's a great board. Good upward pop, good speed even though it is not the fastest board out there at all, great feel on the water, it's very smooth and consistent.

2006 isn't that old, I have an 04 Substance that I could still ride right now, and I rode it regularly for a long time. As long as it's a new board, then it should be in good shape, but I don't think there's gonna be a warranty right?
