Setting up demo days or sponsered events?

Anyone know anything about this? I know where I live isn't considered a major wakeboarding state like Tx. or Fla. but the scene here is starting to blow up. I thought it would be cool to set up a local competition or some demo days so people around here could try out new gear. I know they do that a lot in snowboarding, but I've never been anyplace that does that in wakeboarding. Any info on this would be most appreciated, I'm just trying to spread the stoke and have some fun.
