heres some more. i got bored today waiting for the sealer on the ski locker door to dry so i decided to put the board racks and the mirror on.
i ran out of resin when i was almost done. i forgot how much 1.5oz mat sucks up the resin.
here is the only parts from the motor that is saveable. the rest of it was JUNK. i got 80$ out of the junk parts from the scrap yard though!
this week i will be picking up the engine cover/storage/sun deck frame from the powder coater that i built last week. sorry, but i dont have any pics of that. i will also be ordering a new set of vortec sbc heads and telling the machine shop to go ahead with the machine work on the short block. i think i can have it done and using it in a month and a half. |

| well i priced it out and building the seats, sundeck, and redoing the floor its going to be about 1200, thinking of doing the seats and sundeck out of HDPE. Does that sound about right? (This does not include upolstery, just the base for the seats) |

That's an awesome rebuild, looking great so far. I'm just curious why you didn't put ballast tanks under the floor while you had it out? _________________

Another good source for glass and resin is US Composites. I've been getting most all my supplies from them. Even with shipping the prices are good.
kartman, that isn't two bad for both seats. I'm thinking about what I want to do in the future as far as my driver's seat. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Lookin' good! I like the color of the carpet. Is the engine frame something that was already there or something you fabricated?
Looks like you have yourself a good little helper. I'm going to have both my boys helping me a lot more now that I'm not working with the nasty stuff. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

i built the engine cover frame. it was an easy build. it cost me about 50$ in materials including the stainless bolts. _________________ trying to find a $5-7K usable saltare if anyone knows of one. |

than the traditional i/o dog house?? what im going to be doing is making a big sun pad like modern v-drives has. with storage compartments on either side of the motor. so the back pad will have 2 side doors, and 1 door for the engine compartment. im still debating on whether or not i should put a ski pylon in the pad or just use the ski hook on the back of the boat. either way, i will be cutting the wood out for the dividers and the sun pad this weekend. today/tonight i am putting the smaller pieces of carpet in toward the front of the boat. _________________ trying to find a $5-7K usable saltare if anyone knows of one. |

wow, i cant believe how much i have done to my boat over the last couple of weeks. the interior is about 90% done now. i just have to re upholster the bow seats, and build the panels for the engine cover, and swim deck. at this point i really feel a sense of pride and owner ship that i dont think i would have if i would of just bought a new boat. the only other one that would know what im talking about is okie. its just a different feeling knowing that it is something I built that the family and friends can use.
sorry for the blurry pics, i think the little man got his finger goo on the lens.
tearing apart the old panels.
tracing the old panels.
invaluable help
the pile of old felt/carpet/etc.
all the wood was sealed with an epoxy before carpet.
my helper carrying the new side panels
it feels like a boat again!

You're really progressing. Yes, I definitely know what you mean about pride of ownership. This year is going to be interesting seeing how people react to the boat, especially if I get to tell them what all was done over the winter.
I see you aren't the only one with a KSL box in the pic. LOL! _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

got the engine cover done, and the storage compartments done. the hinges are made for a toy box lid, and i got the locking latch from cabella's. finally got the helm seat bolted down. this week i will be getting quotes to get the engine and storage lids covered in foam and vinyl. will be picking up a new (used) long block on my next trip to socal. (as long as its as nice as the guy says). theirs just a couple more parts that i need to build for the back of the boat. mostly filler pieces. and i need to pick up and install some gas shocks to hold the doors open

the seats are not in the picture for this year. next winter i will be wrapping seats around the back and the port side. if the motor was good, i would have the funds. but for now, it will work for what we need. (and it leaves a lot of room for coolers!) and for the storage, i fit everything i had in the old boat in 1 of the compartments. _________________ trying to find a $5-7K usable saltare if anyone knows of one. |

So, next year the plan is to go with what you originally wanted, wrapping the seats like a v-drive, right?
I bet that storage is nice. It looks huge! Too bad I/O's don't like rear weight...you could fit some good sized ballast back there. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

got the motor in. i would explain it more, but it is 11 at night. i will let the pics do the talking. had a hairy time when the winch cable slipped and dropped the motor 6". bent the engine cover frame, but didnt hurt anything else. besides that it went pretty smooth.

Too bad I/O's don't like rear weight...you could fit some good sized ballast back there. | It's not that they don't like the weight in the back, it's that you NEED to have more weight up front or they start to bounce when you play with the trim. I would say you should have been fine to put a couple ballast bags under the floor in the middle so long as you could have put them as close to the front as possible. Then put more weight right at the tip of the bout under the front seats. fill those first, then experiment with the hidden ballast...too late now I guess. |
