I know 360s are known for being pretty unforgiving, but this is ridiculous. I'm getting strung out off axis coming out of my handle pass consistently this season.
One thing I can think of that's different from last season is I'm probably producing a lot more line tension and trying to take it a lot bigger. I'm also overrotating into a 540 position on a lot of them.
Any ideas? Maybe I should try a few puny one's to get back in the swing of things, and then build it up with more air? |

You don't want to build up too much line tension, because when you leave the wake the line will be too tight and it will yank you towards the boat when you start your spin. It can pull you off axis, its definitely a sure way to bite it hard.
Take a slower progressive edge, stand tall off the wake, wait on the pop, then initiate the 3 by pulling the handle towards your rear hip with both hands. Don't freeze up or stargaze or you will fall hard for sure, you have to keep the rotation going and commit to the full spin. Your wrists should be closed when you do that pass (knuckles square to the small of your back), and keep your head pinned over your lead shoulder to help keep your body rotating.
But yeah definitely don't take a strong ass-on-the-water cut for a frontside spin, a good thing to watch is pro's cutting in for spins on videos, they are hardly kicking up any wash off their board, you can't expect to get the pop they do but fundamentally its perfect, it doesn't take a strong release or a ton of height to get the 3, just stay in control by standing tall off the wake and don't let the line get too far away from you or you will get wrecked. |

Don't try to spin, just try to pass the handle. _________________ "Our common welfare as wakeboarders shall come first, placing principles ahead of personalities......" |

At the beginning of a season you should always start a little slower and build up. So I would recommend you getting the 3 down at a little less of a scale and then going big. Good luck. _________________ Pulling fat people out of the water is fun...I get to use my engine. |

| I got it back now. I think I just went a little overboard that day. I was building up way too much line tension for the trick and rushing into it, just as you suspected. Thanks for the good advice, and maybe by the end of this season I'll be able to dail up a big 360 way out in the flats. |
