This is starting to drive me mad. I get decent height on the actual ollie, but always seem to mess up the rotation, either make it, then slide out on my heels, or as I did last week, totally mess it up catch the front edge and super face plant - OWWWW!
Any tips how to crack this? The annoying thigns is, that I can ollie 180 from inside to outside the wake, but just can't crack off flat water. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

Just make sure that you lean over your toes when you land and edge away from the boat while you're learning. Once you get used to it more you can rely on this less and less but it will definitely help. Also, try to keep your eyes looking at the horizon/ shoreline and not looking down at the water/your board.
the key is the handle though, just push it to your new lead hip and you should be good. |

put the handle in your opposite back pocket when rotating, for left foot forward stick that handle in your right rear pocket to get the full rotation, took a few dingers myself on this one, finally after bashing my melon on the water too many times my head decided to make my muscles complete the rotation and stick that handle in my back pocket, no problems since then, now if i can just get that trick w2w..... _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

Practice cutting out on your switch toeside edge to get used to that position. Remember, you don't have to get massive air from the ollie to land the 180.
Assuming you can do surface 180's, its basically the same movement. Simply do a little hop, move the handle to your opposite hip, and don't forget to change edges. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Key to ollie, get air, always eyes up, then switch your handle to other hip and commit.
If you look up; more than likely you'll prevent a face plant. |
