How many of you need to fold your tower down to put the boat in the garage that have tower speakers?
I have an 05 x-2 and just bought a threesome from wetsounds. My tower has two bars on the top of the tower separated by about 8 inches. If I put the speakers on the most back part of the tower I''m concerned it won't fold down very well when putting the boat in the garage. If i place my speakers on the other bar will I be bumping into them with the old Noggen.
Has anyone had problems folding the tower down if the speakers are sticking out a couple of inches? I'm thinking they'll be sticking out 6 inches at least. I just don't want to damage the cones as well as having the weight of the tower resting on them. Anyone have a pics of the tower set up that places the speakers more forward before I start drilling holes and fishing my wires through the tower? _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

If you have a 7' garage door, better check that it will fold down far enough if the spkrs are holding the tower up a bit. Some people open the rear hatches and drop the tower into there to get into the garage.
Otherwise, no problem. My speakers rest on the sundeck when I fold it up to get in the garage.
If you're gargae is tall enough, put a hook in the ceiling to tie the rear part of the tower to, so you can raise it up while in the garage. Whole lot easier to clean/work on the boat that way. _________________ '06 X2, MCX, PP |

^^ I do this as well, just have a rope hanging from the rafter that i hook around the tow point on the tower, keeps my pro 80s from resting on my seats and denting the vinyl. If that's not an option, you can build a base out of a square and a couple of 2x4's and some bunk carpet for about 8 bucks that lets the tower sit on it and disperses the weight into the floor. _________________ <insert witty banter here> |
