|
|
I just purchased a LF board from an online shop that was sold to me as a "first quality" item. After receiving the board, I think that it may be a blem. Does anyone know how I can find out for sure?
Thanks! |

| if it has few small scratches, maybe a little nick, or a rub mark on it then its prolly a blem board.. first quality means brand enew nothing wrong with it.. blem means has small imperfections doesnt affect the board just looks.. call them and tell them if it has nicks or scratches and tell them u want what u paid for and thats a brand new one.. |

| Thanks for the advice. It's an 09 Watson and the graphic on the bottom looks a little "fuzzy" or "blurry" (especially the warning statement). Is there anyway I can tell if this is a blem board by the serial number? |

Can you post a picture of your board? Sometimes the materials that are used on the bottom of the board can make the graphic a tiny bit fuzzy. It can be noticeably more fuzzy than the top sheet of the board.
I wouldn't worry about being able to read the warning label, though. It basically says 'don't be dumb' in legal-speak.
Also, if there's any issues, contact the store that you got the board from...not LF. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

Regardless, I'm willing to bet it will not affect the ride. Let's see some pics to make a verdict on the graphic, but I bet it's a standard board ride-wise. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

I tried to take a pic but the issue was not represented very well. I think that I'll try calling LF with the serial number to see what they can tell me. Back in the day (5-7 years ago), LF used to stamp a "B" as the first digit of the serial number on blem boards. Just wondering if that is still the case?
Thanks! |

For me, it's not the ride quality that I am worried about. It's paying for what was sold as a first quality board, and then potentially receiving a blem.
I appreciate everyone's help. Thanks. |

Yeah, most company's put a B or D in the serial number if it's not a first quality (B for Blem, D for Demo) But The bottom graphic is a paper sheet that gets a little blurred when the resin hits it (polyurethane resin dissolves almost any kind of dye or coloring when it's wet) so that's kinda the nature of the materials. and you might have some creases or folds around the fins too, which is perfectly normal, the graphic sheet just doesn't lay perfectly flat around areas with abrupt contours. _________________

No B or D, but I talked to LF and they cannot tell if a board is first quality or blem based upon the serial number. They can't even tell what the part number for the board is based upon the serial number. Strangely enough, if the LF part number is an odd number (11111) then it is a first quality board. If the LF part number is even (11112) then it is a blem board. The frustrating thing is, the LF part number is not referenced anywhere.
Does anyone else have an 09 Watson? What do you bottom graphics look like? |

If you feel that someone sold you a blem board instead of a first rate one - contact the shop, not LF. Chances are they will straighten it out really fast.
I had this happen to me 2 years ago and the online shop took care of it lickety split no questions asked.
That being said, if you can't even tell if it's a blem for sure, do you really care? I could definitely tell mine was so I definitely felt like you ("wtf I paid for first rate and got this??") I totally understand feeling ripped off. However, it can't really be that bad if you're questioning whether it's even a blem.
(IMO LF needs to step up quality control because it seems like this is a somewhat common problem. Love their gear to death, but they need more consistent quality IMO). _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |
