Guide for New Posters...

I've noticed a lot of new people posting and there are some small things that are bothering me. So with the help of some veterans maybe we could set up some guidelines.

1.) Use the search at the top of the page before you create a new post. There are like 2 new post about wakeboarder unleashed everyday which are not needed. Most of these topics have been done before. Bring back an old thread before creating a new one.

2.) Post in the appropriate forum. Again back to the unleashed thing. There is a forum for that game. Stay out of posting it in General or Non-Wake.

3.) No more hot or not post. It's just lame. This is a wakeboarding forum. I believe there are other sites for stuff like that. If you really care look at profile pics and private message those people.

4.) Respect the people who have been around a while. One insult may lead to countless attacks upon yourself and your family. It's just not worth the 5 pages of flaming that will follow.

5.) Pace yourself. No need to blow through 1000 post in a month. Try to make your comments interesting or at least funny.

6.) Remember stupid questions get stupid answers.

Any others I left out???

Good work, Nor*Cal. Numbers 3,4,5 are clutch, for sure. It'd be nice if more people put profile pictures up. Anything is better than nothing. If you don't want to put a pic of yourself up, put up a cartoon, or your ride, dog, boat, board, mom, grouch's mom, etc..... Wink

A lot of that stuff bugs the crap out of me, but I try not to mention it individually because I was a noob once too....although the way I figured most of the stuff out was to LURK, not POST! Watch what everyone else is doing first, see what is acceptable, etc.

Mister C is actually Wake152 reincarnated. (start your own thread denying this C!)

Chales, the superfluous thing didn't reach the target audience. Probably because nobody could pronounce the word!?!? You are right though. This is your basic idea just dumbed down.

salmon_tacos, so you got me on a technicality. Those are still lame topics that have been done time and time again. Bring back a dead hot or not but don't start a new one. Not to mention those post have barely any pictures so what's the point? I liked the reef girl post or when p-chick post pics of her friends far better than any hot or not topic.

This list was intended for general use throughout this site. I just noticed a few things this past month or so that have been making some post lame. Any more suggestions for the list?

Dragon- I don't remember so maybe your hijacking made it better?

Maybe a guideline for the "Vets" Lets not be harsh on the Newbies... so if one post something thats allready been done before, dont be like ultra harsh on them, just tell them about the search and try to be as friendly and coherant as possible...(mmm....Maybe i just wanted to put the word coherent in there.... man thats a sweet word!! Laughing

I guess I haven't really seen more than one or two true "hot or not" topics so I thought you were talking about the "Post pics of hot women" threads. If so, those are OK with me. I do agree, however, that they are sadly lacking in quality, i.e. they have poor picture density.

I think I can illustrate the problem with a brief anonymous dialog:

Also, don't ask anyone what board you should get. Just freakin demo boards your interested in to find the one you like. Same goes for bindings, rope, rope length, PFDs ect.

I agree with you Nor*cal, even though it's a non-wakeboarding forum, there are too many topics that are duplicated and it gets tiring to see them in the list after a while.

the "what music would make me cool, while wakeboarding?" post piss me off, i don't have a problem with "what are you listening to right now" or "post up some new music people should listen to", but don't ask "what music should i listen to while boarding." listen to whatever you like, don't always fit in, listen to something different, listen to something that YOU like not the "cool" thing to ride to.

Sorry Nor*Cal, but I gotta reply. I agree with the dont start those "What board is better" threads. I get at least a couple of those a day and I always say the samething to each person. Also, I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say I'm wake152 reincarnated, can someone fill me in?
