Am I the only dipsh*t that thinks he's rolling forward? I'm embarassed to call myself a wakeboarder at this moment because apparently I'm wrong.. but how - he's rolling forward..

On land he'd be doing a front flip = front roll on wakeboard.. no?

Wakeboarder3780, it's technically a "Mexican Roll" which is called a dirty version of a backroll. This is the style done for stuff like HS BR 2 Blind since it's easier than a true cartwheel and taking it backside 180.

Wakeboarder3780, watch closely lol when he goes in he flips under not over. backflip( back roll) when u flip you go under first meaning ur throwing ur head backwards and front flip ur throwing ur head forward and tuck... kinda make sense? when he starts the flip his head going under meaning he is gunna do a backflip if he would have started and his head went forward and tucked it wud have been a front roll.

kinda help? lol just set there in ur chair and kinda roll ur neck forward now if u were flipping it would be a front flip.. now kinda lean it back so if you were back flipping your head wud be goin back first now watch it again his head goes or back for a backflip twice..

Wakeboarder3780, holds nailed it, mexi rolls are common for taking backrolls to blind or for KGB's. And any double hs backroll attempt i've ever seen (off the double up or wake) i think has been mexi too. Must just be easier to rotate faster tucked that way

Wakeboarder3780, his rotation is a forward roll but it's still considered a backroll, just a variation of it.

Thats sick, clean rotation and not bad landing. I cant imagine how hard it would be to stick that landing while rotating that fast (to not slide out or land short). Impressive

Pretty cool, but it's more of a stunt to me than anything really progressing the sport. Definitely impressive though.

GnarShredd, seriously? That trick is seriously insane. W2W double backroll?!? There is no difference between that and a 7 in terms of rotation except he is able to pull two inverts instead of staying on the normal axis of the wake. There is no underrotating a double flip. You either get it or you don't.

Impressive but as far as the title goes on top of the video "first wake to wake double flip" I could of sworn I saw parks do a wake double half cab.

ky1e, I guess it's just the same reason I don't like double(or more)-kickflips on a skateboard. Matter of style/preference. I just prefer things to not look like a stunt-show, but I guess we have to go somewhere.

Don't get me wrong, it's a HUGE achievement and a really difficult trick. Just not my jam. (Yeah, I know I'll probably put my foot in my mouth when he or Soven lands a double mobe or some crap, but hopefully by then everyone will forget my post Very Happy )

shaggyboarder, I think that was off a doubleup.

GnarShredd, I know hes done plenty of them off the d up im sure he had them dialed in I mean he was throwing them in contests. Im almost positive hes landed one off the wake but I cant seem to dig up the video. Anybody friends with parks that wants to ask him?

I think it's major progress for the sport, imagine if he's doing a double roll w2w what is going to be coming next.

THANK YOU

I thought I was losing my mind for sure because I was the only one that thought he was rotating forward.

On a separate note, I didn't think there was anything wrong with his cut. I need to dig up that learn wake image, basically there are lots of ways to do a w2w, that looked more like the "ollie edge" kind where you take a shorter cut, still go progressive, but you go for more height instead of side to side speed.

In any event, sanity is still intact, carrying on with life..

Wakeboarder3780, yeah his edge is great, I think someone was just pointing out how its crazy he can use such a short and aggressive cut to do that trick versus a more traditional progressive edge from further out.

Yeah the second is no backroll.

Wakeboarder3780, I wasnt saying there is anything wrong with it, as a matter of fact, was just drawing attention to what you can do with the right edge. Most folks would approach that trick alot more aggressively.

On the W2W note, last year we were filming Phil soven during a local comp, after he stomped his run, he was just messing around and hit the wake hard on a tsbr, stayed tucked, and freakin nearly landed a double toe br... It was pretty sick.. Ill see if I can find the footy of it.

Here it is, they had been having trouble with that wake the whole time, plus PP was messing up, Zane was driving it manually. Had it been setup right, I think dude could have come close...

Hansen's cut was to get the rotation going so fast. You can start from five feet outside the wake, cut like it's a raley, and throw a crazy huge backroll. Fun to do but a lot of line tension. He started far enough out so that it would kill some tension, but close enough in to get it fast. Some people do the same thing when starting HS back mobes. It helps get the 360 going really quick.
