What's the deal on these? I always LOVED Ultras, but had the same issues with them that everyone did. Has anyone ridden the 2010 laced version of the Ultra? They look sick.

I was at the cable park a few weeks ago and a couple people that had them were raving about how comfortable they were.

I was dissappointed in the way they looked in person.

I also was a HUGE fan of the ultras and I still measure my new bindings against them as a measuring scale. I currently ride the watsons and I fell in love with how easy they are to get into, however they do NOT have the flex of the ultras and I greatly, greatly miss the flexibility I once had. Poked out grabs are now much more of a chore than they used to be.

Now that I'm in love with the super easy entry the watson / shane style boots have (possibly other manufacturers as well) I don't want to give it up. Unfortunately the new Ultra doesn't look quite as easy to get in (but still decent) but the show stopper for me is that they don't seem to offer it in closed toe, which I've also grown to love.

So I'm very much a torn rider. I'm with you 110% (mathematically impossible, hence it's even more awesome that I am behind you that much) that I want ultras back in a good way, but I've fallen in love with a few other features I can no longer live without.

Not to hijack the thread, but I was going to pose a very similar question of "what binding has easy entry like the watsons, closed toe, but has the most flex like the ultras had". This question may also suit your needs as well.

Wakeboarder3780, i have the 2009 ronix relik closed toes.. same thing as the 2010 model just price is different.. but they dont go up as far on ur leg and i can put them on easily. i can put my board on my floor and slip em right on without any problems at all, doesnt need to be wet or anything.. super light weight! has real good flex and keeps ur heel in place with the 2 lace up system type...

here is a link to evogear it gives u alittle more info about it.. and on a scale of 1-5 flex it has the relik boots at 3 flex.. so pretty flexible but good hold o and super comfortable!

QFT I couldn't have said it any better. However, I think that as long as the new ones don't tear out the eyeholes for the laces, I'm going to have to check them out when I wear out my current Watsons. I, however, don't care for the closed toe, so the OT is no issue for me.

New Ultra's are awesome. I was also a huge fan of the original Ultra, in fact I still have a few pair laying around because I refuse to get rid of them. I eventually switched to a CT boot (Shane, Watson, and Cell) and while those boots were great, I never fell in love with a CT boot and they just didn't really do anything for me. I was pretty stoked when I saw the Ultra come back for 2010, pulled the trigger on them as soon as they were available and I couldn't be happier so far.

Admittedly I've only had a chance to use them on the cable, but they're easy to get on and off, really comfortable, maybe as comfortable as the old ones, and they have a very similar flex. The 2010's are a little bit stiffer, but I think thats mostly due to have a lacing system and not an overlay that breaks down over time.

As far as the lace holes tearing, I really don't think that will be too much of an issue, the plastic is actually pretty thick and durable, I haven't once thought about them ripping when I've put them on and really cranked on the laces.

The only real issue I've had to far was the laces slipping. I have some serious chicken leg syndrome so it's difficult to find any binding that will stay tight around my calf. Swapping out the laces with thicker ones solved my problem (So far).

As I mentioned earlier I've only had a chance to ride them on the cable so far, so they haven't really been in a major wreck yet, but if they happen to explode the next time I'm out behind the boat i'll be sure to let everyone know.

These are definitely on the short list for my next pair of bindings. Loved my old ultras (still have a pair) and miss the flex.

I think that these probably will have to be my next bindings. My Watsons just aren't flexible enough. I love them, but not the same.

That's exactly how I feel. I really like the watsons, but I dearly miss the flex. Let me know what you think of these. I'm reluctant to give up the closed to unfortunately (for me it's a necessity, I ride in ridiculous cold water)
