I am considering these speakers for the bow of my 2004 X-30. The Specs look great and they are waterproof.

Has anyone installed these or used them?
I know Wetsounds now has 6.5" in boat speakers but the grill design worries me for the bow of my boat. Water comes over the bow occassionally (not when I am driving) and the front speakers can get soaked.
I have completely blown the stock Clarion speakers. Here is a pic:

dibthree,
The Wet Sounds XS-650 are extremely water resistant. So no worries at all on anywhere you place them. We take things a bit further on our speakers. For instance we thermoform the surround to the cone so they are bonded together as one piece so there is no glue or worries of glue failure. We use rubber for the spider versus cloth so even the back part of the speaker is marine rated. The tweeter has a sealed cup design and is a component style coax so the tweeter is grille mounted so there is no worry of water down the pole piece. Composite frame and grille. Salt water rated high power tinsel leads. Rubber magnet boot cover.
If a white speaker in a more conventional look is what you are after, based on the other ones you are looking at, we will have the new SW series in a few weeks with a closed off white grille but sharing the same build and same parts as the XS-650 but in different aesthetics. If you shoot me an email to twhite@wetsounds.com I can send you a picture. We have not gotten the web site updated just yet
Tim

In speakers, you get what you pay for.
Wetsounds and Tidal Audio make the best stuff on the water. I went with Tidal Audio for my tower speakers mainly becausethe box designs they had. Though, Tidal is now out of business, so its wet sounds all the way for my audio needs.
My clarions thatcame factory on my boat are heading to a similar fate as you speakers. This season, I am hoping I scrape the cash together to put the XS-650s in my interior slots. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

Hope your amp is up to the task. When I installed mine last spring, they proved to be power hungry! _________________ http://www.youtube.com/greasemonkeytv |

I got them because my amp was over powering the clarions that were in there.
I feel a Syn6 in my future one day anyway. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN
