I took my first attempt at amateur filming etc. this week. Tell what you guys think of the video, not so much the riding. And I have great quality on my desktop but can't get it to youtube in the same quality. The highest quality on the desktop is 3.4 GB and youtube will only take 2.0 GB.

What format do you guys use to load the videos.

If you want to use vimeo, you'll have to compress the size down to 500mb.

There are ways to preserve the quality and compress to a smaller file size. Most programs will have a default web setting, start with that and tweak it. What program are you using to edit with?

As for the video itself,

I'd start with trimming your clips down a bit, there seemed to be a long of time when nothing was really happening in the video. Along with that, everything doesn't need to be in slow motion. Especially when people are just riding around or cutting out to setup for their jumps. Make use of your zoom. Film some zoomed in a little bit more or do slow zooms when the riders are cutting in and stuff. Remember the more you zoom the steadier your hands have to be. There is nothing worst that watching a shaky film. As for editing, listen for beats and hits of the song. These are good times to try to make up your clips with. Match it up so some one lands on a beat or takes off on a beat or your change clips on a beat. These are just some basics.

Not bad for your first edit though!

Thanks NorthwestRider,

I'm using Cyberlink PowerDirector to do the editing/production etc. So I'm still working on firguring out that software myself.

Thanks for the tips.

Back to more riding and clips tomorrow.

Lol Youtube Quality aint crap, it only is as crappy as the uploaded footage... I have very nice 1080p footage on youtube, so dont rant over that (yeah youtube still sucks anyway)

You should compress your video to WMV or Quicktime, then it will be alot smaller. You can use Adobe Premiere for that.
